Questions on Soulgems and Charms

Soulgems:

At levels below 30, is it worth having soulgems? If bought and manufactured with a high level of crafting, is it worth it? Should I just save them?

Is spending 14.3k for +45 hp worth it as a LA mage?

Charms:

Same thing with charms- worth it? Save Yinquan stones (have like 225 now..)?

~~~~~~~~
side question:
I have a pdef charm +33% that doesn't stay in the charm slot. The game won't let me leave it there. If I double click on it, only blue sparks- no numbers or icons change. I'm within the level requirements and I have a bunch of pages still. Is it supposed to last 1 hit only?
Glitch? Bug?
Thanks in advance!
    I've never played with papercraft charms, so I can't help you there, but as far as soul gems, nah, wait until like level 40, then throw avg gems in everything, for high level gear, you might wanna go for bigger ones. My 2 cents.
    I personally wouldn't put Gems into things until level 60 unless you have really good equips that you're plan to keep for a while and have a bit of money to spend.
    I've never used those PDef Charms either, so can't help you there.
    I use the pdef charms in TW, since i am being targeted by 90+ archers i honestly don't know if it is working since they hit me huge anyway, but i would say make them, since it helps level your apoth skill, and use them in pk fights in case they work. I think they work 1 time till you are hit, then you have to use another. Similar to the magic attack ones that you do equip. I time per spell
    Agree, don't buy soulstones till you are 60 since you outlevel the eq/weaps so fast. Really is a waste of money. However, if you get some as drops or quest rewards, since it won't cost you any money feel free to use them since that doesn't cost you anything and no point in wasting them. I just wouldn't buy them.
    As for the spending question that's really up to you, if you have money and can afford things to make life easier for you, well then do it, if cash is tight then live with what you got
    Lol wow, why the hell would you buy average stones? If you're on a PvE server, there's absolutely no need to waste that kind of money on crappy gear you'll only use for a week or two. And even at higher levels, the difference is negligible. I still use common shards on anything not used for long, like 6x non HH/legendary gear. I can't think of any situation where spending an extra 400k for 50 hp would've helped me out, lol.
    Wondering how much longer these **** packs are going to be around.
    well, lets see, you can make 100k in 45 mins when your not even hard core grinding, and when you've got everything you need up to date, why not improve your survivability a bit? and when its time to sell the gear, I sell for a little less then the stones price, I got my moneys worth, now time to make a little extra profit.
    100k every 45 mins starting at 40. Riiight. Why isn't everyone wearing legendary gear, again? Honestly, at the level where 100k is easy to get you'll want to spend it on skills or other gear, not 15 extra HP.
    Other than that, 2 average shard = 50 HP for 110k. 2 common shards = 40 hp for 28k. That leaves you with 80k to spend on mirage stones to +1. Which gives more HP than 2 average shards.
    So you can't just say you "should" start throwing average shards into everything. It depends on the rest of the gear used, the amount of money the person has, and so on. There's better alternatives, more than likely.
    "100k every 45 mins starting at 40. Riiight."
    If you go out, and just kill stuff that has decent drops, 100k is fairly easy. Items+DQ+Coins.
    you give 1 light armor wizard a handful of common gems, and the other a handful of average/beautful gems, and they are equal in every other way, guess whos going to win.
    And he asked for opinions, I gave him mine, he said nothing about refining, so I didn't bring it up. I'm sorry that 400k every 2 weeks breaks you, I guess some people just have a lot less luck with drops. 1 week of killing for drops 3 hours a day gives me enough money to replace my charms if I even need to, upgrade the skills I want, and plenty of money left over for luxury items. The 100k in 45 mins was also an average, during that week, you can get a ton of items that merchant for anywhere from 2-10k, if everyone picked up everything that drops, they probably wouldn't wine they were broke so much. I notice a lot of people kill and move on.
    i make about 60-80k in an hour of grinding so i don't see it unreasonable at a lower level when the drop rate is a little better to make more.
    And is that hard core grinding, or just casual grinding, and are you picking your mobs by what they drop, or by exp? A lot of factors are in play to determine how much money you can make from grinding. :)
    I would say its hardcore but the 60-80k is after expenses. DQ drops i get are 3k or 3.35k, to get 25/30 of those in an hour, is not unreasonable, maybe even light. Take out a little for repairs, or if i ate some more pots then what i started with. Coins i pick up. Maybe i make a little more money, i have to grind again and pay more attention to it, but certainly not less.
    I pick my spots based on where i am not going to get ganked, not based on exp or what they drop
