    ye good story,
I swa him kill some, and as he was low lvl, and i was waiting i put in some dmg to help his kill fast.
Then he says " hey whats with the KS ing " b:laugh

Umm..., some people call unwanted help such as higher level engaging same mob as he or she does and then do greater damage that dangerously closes to 50% of mob's life "to help him kill quicker", also killstealing.
And after that of course they might react pretty much the same way as the guy did.

BTW my current level is 34 and I can't see piranhas in that seas as "grave danger". they're more like welcomed target. All physical mobs no magic BS. Great- bring it on :)

Ahhhh but AZ, you're missing the fact that they're playing on the carebear servers and therefor can't take the "hard-core" approach of PKing that we do on our server.

i only ks when im with a low guildie who needs a kill 50 mob quest done
and thats cause when i activate a atk teh mob i chose is basically dead
i hot key f7 f6 and they go in a row and as a bm we really cant stop our moves b:laugh i mean seriously 1.1casting time um can anyone press f8 with one hand then instantly press esc in a (lets take drake sweep) .8secs span of time
    >.>
    i dont think sooooo
b:chuckle the snowmen event was epicly fun
i gave up on my bm atks and got a bow and got on my aero sword and watched the respawn points and snuggled into a position where i could snipe 5-6 snows in a row
(also i kind of memorized the respawn times)
it was funny when every i went to ether
i would hover under the floating bridge and snipe out snows adn it made the lowbies mad cause my killls came out of no where
it caused responses like "omg wtf where did that come from"
then after a while the noobs gave up and actually when i came down to reload arrows or cs(i did snows for a while) they were like "awesome sword, where can i get on, are you a blademaster, what clothes are those"
the funny thing is i invited like 20 of those noobs to my guild b:chuckle
    fb19 ftw
i aslo wanna know why some one would come kill a outside boss (like dodopod) thats almost dead and that i waited teh 10mins for. if they know they arent gonna get good exp since yoru just dividing up a kill that you dont deserve
(o: i have a funny story.. . i think...i was killing hexwebs and i would gather them and aoe to teh max, then a mage came and decided to ks by using a aoe atk to hit all the mobs so you know what i did, nothing, i let all the mobs go the him and basically own him and when he was about to die i used roar to take the mobs and i finished em off and said "your attempt to ks just got ksed" lets jsut say he got on his sword and flew away)

If you did this for me, I'd politely thank you for trying to help, but then explain that I'd rather kill them alone. XP gets divided up depending upon damage done, and I'm usually killing things for the XP.

I know people generally team up to help each other complete quest quotas as fast as possible, but that's part of why people seem to run out of quests, since they're relying primarily on the final quest rewards to give them most of their XP.

By not rushing and taking the time to get more XP from the kills themselves, I find I'm level 43 at the moment and I've still got a huge backlog of uncompleted quests. More than the Quest log screen can handle, in fact.

Well, tonight I had my first real run-in with a determined kill stealer.

Couldn't this be termed to be harrassment? One would think, since the offender is deliberately attempting to hamper your progress in the game.

Maybe there should be a system set up to deny assistance from other players? One where you'd have to accept help in order for ANYone else to attack the monster you're already on.

Either that, or start banning them. I like that idea, too.

My own "KS" story details a potentially well-meaning, but completely disillusioned player attempting to "help" by assassinating every Tauroc Angler I engaged, even after I tried explaining that I'd like to tame one.

Just because I play a Venomancer does not mean I am female, nor does it mean that I am an inexperienced gamer, a weak character, or other type of total incompetent that needs assistance in everything that I do.

If he really wanted to help, he'd put his back to mine and start engaging every high-level character trying to pick on the low-levels, or prevent them gaining experience.

Seriously...it doesn't matter how good your intentions are: If a person doesn't ask for help, it is UNWELCOME, and equal with arrogance. "You couldn't possibly defeat these monsters. I'll do it for you, and won't even allow you the chance to prove yourself. Look how great I am."

    Bah...

all I can say is i love you.

I live by the same morals as you do. I don't like to ks and I don't like ksers. I do about the same thing if they repeatedly ks from me XD

What my good old buddy Merok does is annoy them back and return the favor wherever they go. XD He gets exp and pisses them off by giving them a taste of their own medicine. But again, I don't do it myself cuz I don't like ksing >.<

I need to do that more often. I never thought of picking decoys yet. lol that's something to keep in mind :3 i'd love to see my kser get 4-5 agro on their tails so they'd drop like a fly.

I love people like you XD get messed with a kser, mess with em back :D

I totally understand. As a veno I know that sometimes by accident I get the same target someone already is aiming at, but when that happens I immediatly withdraw my pet and try to apologize. I think it's basic ettiquete. Of course, there are a lot of kill stealers which made me angry at first. Now, my technique is taking their items. They get pissed XD so pissed. And they stop after you get that blue named item they wanted. b:chuckle I'm going to use your techiniques indeed.

my ks coping stratagy is simple. i am a barb see avatar.

when i get a higher lvl or just some one who does more damage than me camping in my hunting grounds i just wait a little to see if they will move on. now i pick my spots to play to my strenghts so i don't like to move too far away. any way this is my solution. since i find that most ksing is done on the part of the kser to get through a kill quest the easiest way possible or mabey with the most exp for the least work possible.

i tell them in common chat. "wow your pretty good i will buff you if you squad with me." then i give them my hp buff and strenght of titan buff. if you don't know they give hp and attack buffs respectivly. then i sit back and watch them kill off the whole lot of mobs.

the reason is simple. most kser's when not pissed of could give a flying flip about the one being ksed right? and most tend to be immature as we all know. i have 3 kids so i know the worst thing in the world to immature ppl is boredom.
THAT'S RIGHT THEY OUT KILL THE AREA AND LEAVE CUZ THE RESPAWN TAKES TO LONG. and i make sure to tell them the buff only lasts 30 mins. so they get to thinking i gotta use it before it wears off and they leave.

problem solved 90% of the time. i also try to keep a little bit of coin on me so i can relocate ahead of the ppl that have a personal interest in ksing me. i port to town and port to another area on the other side of the map.

any way those are my stratagies.
one day the world will shout to me save us....
    and i will whisper no.

i'm confused about the story, why would a level 70ish veno grind the same mobs as a lvl 45 barb? makes no sense to me, a lvl 70ish veno will prolly solo tts to get money or soloing other higher level mobs. b:chuckle

Probably she was training a low level pet?

And perhaps she was working on a dragon quest?

wow, forgot about that DQs, trashed those quests long ago since it makes me so poor. best place to train pet is in the cube i think, there is this one room that gives good exp for pets.

I believe it's room 15 but don't quote me on that. I do know that the cube is the best place to train your pets though. (least according to all the lvl 70, 80, and 90+ level veno in my guild)

    Which room?

Not sure specifically which room.. but there's one in which all the mobs are one-shottable, and respawn very speedily.
    Everyone here is ridiculously oversensitive.

Ive come across 3 mini bosses that i alone can kill so far.

    Terror claw-Level 30-Near Silver Pool
    Dodo pod-Level 40-Near Angler's Village
Gomda-Level 50-At Dragon Wilderness near Town Of Arrivals.

I'll post their locations later, because they keep moving around in paths.

Killing them gets you a good amt of exp & spirit if u are +/- 2 their level.

    Terrorclaw-650exp 110 sp
    Dodopod-1232exp 225 sp
    Gomda-1511exp 250 sp

The exp will vary at different levels, although they are hard to kill and would recommend killing them at 30,40,50 respectively.

Try killing them alone (65-95 seconds (if you survive that is)) and don't forget your potions

Well, tonight I had my first real run-in with a determined kill stealer.

I was killing spiders in Orchid Valley with my level 35 Barbarian, sharing them with the ~3 other level ~35ish players there, when dropping in from above comes some level ~70 Venomancer and her pack of cronies. She immediately runs up to me and announces, "Don't you try to ks!"

Sheesh. None of us were kill-stealing. Heck, I haven't kill-stolen a single monster from anyone, ever, and don't intend to. I think what she really meant was, "These are OUR monsters now, so get lost!" Insulted, I told her to shut up and left.

So of course she followed and began kill-stealing all of my kills, because after all, hypocrisy is the first recourse of the self-righteous.

Anyway, here's what I learned: Kill stealers are actually fun to play with. They make the game more challenging and amusing. Each kill isn't just a kill, it's a little victory, and you know the other person is keeping score.

When she'd try to steal my kills, I'd attack a "decoy" monster, which she'd attack, then I'd go for my real target. If she switched, I'd switch, which meant she'd eventually have 3-4 monsters attacking her and have to stop to kill them, at which point I'd get my kill.

When targets were slim, I'd jump around and pick up stray loot items instead. She started trying to scoop them up first, so I grabbed Herbs and such instead. There was always enough stray loot.

Another technique I found was to run behind a thick pack of mobs and attack a decoy monster. She'd send in her pet to try to kill-steal, and the pet would get aggro from 3-4 monsters and take a beating. After doing this a few times she eventually figured out I was baiting her and stopped sending her poor pet in to get pounded.

Another technique was to hit a monster for just over half damage, then stop attacking. If she finished it off for me, I'd type, "ty", then move on. When she realized I was doing this, she'd try to abort her pet's attacks and avoid finishing it off, but this worked in my favour because then the monster would aggro to her pet and sit there beating on it while I stood there doing nothing.

Finally, my last technique was to summon my own pet: my all-class pet Baby Huggy Hare. Useless, right? Well, if you've ever owned one you'll know that the constant chatter they make gets really annoying really quickly. Which makes them perfect for when you're running around in circles around a kill-stealer!

Anyway, so there's my story. The final score was about 4 kills for me for every 1 kill stolen by her. Overall, the whole experience was a lot more fun than just plain old grinding/questing.

Anyone else got any entertaining anti-kill-stealer strategies to share?

I love when venos and their dumb pets try to KS...I simpily grab aggro and run away with the tender vittles. It's cool watching them try to keep up as I run a mob around.

The GREAT thing about being a Barb is you can be in tiger form and watch a KS attempt happen..then spring to Humanoid. Once they see your green weapon - they kinda know....OOPS...picked on the wrong newb!

(Nothing against Venos at all! Just relating a story)
