First sorry for making a thread on something that has been discussed.

That being said even though it has been discussed there seems to be many players having issues with getting a game pad to work with PWI.There also seems to be players out there that have gotten game pads to work.

My question to the GM's is... Can one of you please post on this subject?
A few questions to get things off on the right foot follow.

1:Does PWI support Game Pad use?

2:Does PWI support Xpadder software?

3:does PWI support Joy2Key software?

4:does the problem that some users seem to be having with game pads have anything to do with the OS? "using Vista myself"

5:If PWI does not support Game pad useage could it be designed to do so?
Say by selling a Perfect world endorsed game pad to make the company more money...

Sorry for the rant but many players do prefer to use Game pads myself included and imho would enjoy your product much more with this option.

Any info would be helpful as I for one have spent many many hours trying to figure this one out. There are a few threads on the subject but once someone states "once I launch prefect world the controller stops working"the thread seems to die with no helpful responses forthcoming.

Obviousley not a GM but uhm, why exactly should GM's care about players trying to play the game with gamepads? How do you rationalise that a gamepad works better than a mouse to select things on the screen?

A mouse and keyboard is obviousley what the game was designed for, it doesnt officially suport game pads/joysticks.

xpadder and all the related sotware was written by enthusiasts that just want to do things different, or for ported games on pc. You should post your problems on their forums because the problem is not with perfect world, its the emulator software you are using thats causing the problems.

This thread was asking a GM for a response and I never said one way was better then another. But if you must know i use game pads due to health reasons that do not allow me to stay sitting upright for long periods of time at a computer desk. The use of a pad allows me to be more comfortable.

I understand that the game is designed for a keyboard and mouse combo.
I never said it wasnt i simply asked a question, one that pretained to my own affairs.

Concerning your remark as to why Gm's should "care" about my issue.
1:I am part of thier user base the same as you are.
    "A paying customer at that"
2:They are Gm's they are here to answer questions and handle customer queries.
3:The Question was asked in a civil manner much unlike your response.

My question still stands....to a GM.

there are things called trackballs that works better if you need something u can use in any position.

The game wasn't designed for gamepads, its never will be. Like I said you'll get much better support on the xpadder official forum than you will here.
They wont even impliment changes thats good for the game like zoom etc etc, the chances of official gamepad support is very very close to zero.

Some things to note: the GM's work for PWI they dont own the game, they dont code the game. Your payment doesnt qualify you for special treatment, equality for all. As soon as someone can start going "I'm a paying customer, i demand attention" the game is heading downhill.

As for your remarks on my resposnes not being civil, take it any way you want. I actually gave you good advice but due to some personall self esteem issues you had to start ranting about how mean i was to you. The GM's are actualy busy with real issues, the game wasnt made for this and they are going to tell you that too.

So, you're being mean to them now about them feeling you were being mean to them before? Ok, gotcha. Makes perfect sense.

While gameplay differs for everyone, there are a few users who may have disabilities. Using a gamepad would make the game more accessible for them.

I only know one solution for joy2key with Vista. I'm not sure if it'll be the same with other applications, but for joy2key has to run as administrator with Windows XP compatibility. Better off starting it before you open the PW client.

She gave the link to my post here: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=848951&postcount=15

A very small amount of PC gamers play regular PC games with gamepads. I am one of those geeks.

All the info I have gotten from other players, and from my own experiences so far are in that post.

Hope it helps. Moved this thread to TS because it is relative.

    This really is quite odd.

I have an Xpadder profile set up for my Xbox 360 controller and it works great. But once I start Perfect World, it stops running my gamepad settings and forces me to use my keyboard and mouse.

I'm going to look into it a little more, hopefully I can find the answer.

Some of the benefits of free or open source software are:

    1) It is FREE (yay!)

    2) You get what you pay for.

The person that made Xpadder might have to get his software to handle Window's functions deeper for supporting the keyboard and mouse emulation.

If you are using Vista, you may have more of an uphill battle if Xpadder was made for XP.

You can also try allowing for the gamepad software to cover one or all of there:

    elementclient.exe
    launcher.exe
    pwprotector.exe
    patcher.exe

I got it. All you have to do is disable Vista's User Account Control (UAC).

Control Panel>User Accounts and Family Safety>User Accounts>Turn UAC on or off

Uncheck the box and restart your computer. It worked for me so I'm assuming it works for you.

    @ kampf

Can you tell us what version of Xpadder you used, which Xbox 360 controller you are using (wired or wireless with USB dongle), and step out the process that you did?

Write it out nice and informational, and I'll include it in the Tech Support FAQ!

Using an Xbox 360 Controller with Perfect World

NOTE: This only works with a Wired Xbox 360 Controller.

First, you need to make sure that you have Administrative Rights for your computer. Once you have confirmed that you do, download and extract Xpadder 5.3 and the PerfectWorld folder. Open up your newly-created xpadder_gamepad_profiler folder and drag the contents of PerfectWorld into it. After you've done so, run Xpadder and you'll get this screen.
    xpadderempty.jpg

Click the controller icon (the one next to the yellow box) and click "Open". If you followed my instructions, you should see a file named PerfectWorld. Open it and a controller should show up. Now click on the piece of paper and hit "Open" and you should see another file named PerfectWorld. If done correctly, you'll see this.
    xpadder.jpg

You can click on the squares and set the keys to your liking if you wish, but be sure to save. Now you'll need to go into your Control Panel and follow this path.
Control Panel>User Accounts and Family Safety>User Accounts>Turn UAC on or off
Uncheck the box and click "Okay". Vista will prompt for a system reboot, so reboot.

Welcome back! Now that your UAC is disabled you'll be able to run Xpadder and Perfect World at the same time. So start up Xpadder and load up the controller profile. Then load up Perfect World. Enjoy!

If this process doesn't work, PM me with your issue and I'll research it more.

I hope this isn't too long for your post, darthpanda.
