Decomposing problem

Hi everyone,

I have obtained all 4 manufacturing skills. I've been trying to decompose stuff, but cannot get it to work. I did try it on items with maxed durability, at the right NPC (i.e. weapon at blacksmith, armor at tailer, etc.) and at the right level (lvl 1 items... doesn't even work with the fresh lvl1 swords from the shop).

After I drag the item to the decompose box, the fee is shown as 0, and there is written "insufficient durability" at the bottom (again, the item does NOT need repairing). I'm totally lost...

Do I have to drag chi stones, yiyuan or whatever to the "decompose into" box too? How do I get these stones at the first place without decomposing?

EDIT: yeah, I've tried searching the forum first. No luck. Everyone suggests repairing and/or get the right skills. Which I did.

    Level 1 gear does not decompose.

    I am having the same trouble decomposing stuff. I have tried different levels of items, and repairing them and none of that works. I guess it is a game bug, but I dont know where to report that.

    Read the post above. Lvl 1 equip does not decompose.

    I just tried with a one star "Rhino Horn Ring". Item is fully repaired and has Lvl 3. Does still not decompose, same error message "insufficient durability". And yes, I'm trying at the craftsman's shop.

    I often see the "insufficient durability" message when I put the item in the decompose box, but I can still decompose it if I just ignore this message and click the box to start the process. Sorry if it is a stupid question, but have you tried ignoring the error message?

    You have probably figured this out already, but with level 1 crafting skills you can only decompose level 2 equipment. (For example, level 1 blacksmith lets you decompose level 2 weapons.)

    Lol Thanks Bob, never tried that. I usually just npc it if I can't decompose it. If you need yiyuan stones for a quest or for someone else's quest then decompose in Lost, Plume or Etherblade because you can't decompose that low of a level of equipment in Arch.

    Also note that just because an item is at full endurance does not mean it's fully repaired. The game seems to track item endurance to more decimal places than the display shows, and rounds up to the nearest integer. e.g. Sometimes it'll show an endurance of 42/42, but if you choose repair item it'll say it'll cost like 83 gold to repair. Once you repair it, you can decompose it.

    I've repaired all my armor.
    My Craftsman level is 3.
    I am at a craftsman
    I still get the Insufficient Durability message. Can't figure it out.

    Darn it, I want my mirage celestone! b:angry

    You can't use the "repair all" button to repair items in your inventory, it only works on the gear you're wearing.

    You need to choose the "repair" button and manually click on the items you want to repair. That'll get them up to full endurance, so you can decompose them properly.
