Can you buff a mob?

Well today I decided to kill yangsheng for fun, the usual break from grinding feeling the effects of my leveling and doing a bit of charity if the chance presents itself. Anyway after yangsheng respawn I refreshed my golden bell and run towards him while putting on my marrow physical. Then I saw the characteristic curved red light coming from him at the same time my marrow activated 0_o.
I take a few whacks at him and wow he have high defense. Guess he can really use marrow physical. Then after a few more hits my damage doubled, that's about when my marrow disappeared.

After killing yangsheng, I remembered that something like this happened before. Except at that time I was using marrow magical and the mob is suzerix. I just assume at the time that suzerix can use marrow magical -_-'. Also I saw a magmite use cloud sprint to chase a newbie bm when the bm was trying to run away with his cloud sprint on.

So my question is: can a mob take on your buff if you do it near him?
