Compilation of Archers Tips

I'm am going to start this off with 4 of my tips:

1. Your weapon is your most important equipment.

2. No matter what build you are - Never Put Points In Magic!

3. Archers only do half-damage to monsters that go inside their imaginary 5-meter circle.

4. Move around. You are not a tank. Don't waste your pots and charms taking melee hits.(Added note: That's a huge problem. Many archers lack movement and have trouble in PVP world.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any experienced or wise archers, please feel free to add to the list.
The next person starts number 5.
    6) don't level knockback past lvl 1! its a waste of sp, mp, and won't work in pvp anyway
    7) Know you're threat level. Know you're tanks. Stop attacking when you might get "Threat".
    "Threat" is most damage (as far as archers are concerned). "ESC" key or ground near you, "s" key, etc, learn to break target.
    8) In a situation where your the highest lvl in your group during a fb/TT etc.
    and there is a probable chance of pulling aggro use arrows/bolts/shot with a
    lower phys attack.
    For example: I participated in a fb51 and everyone was 2 to 4 lvls lower than
    I. I noticed that I was pulling the mobs off of the dd's so I quickly
    changed from triple bladed to Iron bolts and fixed the issue. I always carry a
    set of 1000 or more lower bolts or arrows just for those instances.
    when it gets to choosing between "Run" and "Stay and fight you might still kill the 2 mobs that gang you" the correct answer is answer number 1
    This is probably applicable for any class, but still :
    Never get gear just because it looks good.
    I may look like a noob, but I know a lot more than you think.
    probably really obvious, but USE COMMON SENSE
    Also, KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS, YOURSELF AND THE ENEMY
    come on, you're not gonna charge into a battle against someone higher lvl than you and go Kamikaze. That's suicide. You have to know your character and the monster. You have to know your armor and weapon durability and how long they'll last. Know mp cost and how much you got to keep comboing. How do you know your enemy? REPETITION, REPETITION, REPITITION. You can either battle them multiple times or see someone battle multiple times. Research the skills. See how much damage you got and figure out how well you can stand.
    PvE-battle multiple monsters again and again and you'll know the monster well enough to see whether or not you need help or something. Survival rate can be increased if you do it right.
    PvP-if you're just got to lvl 30 and you see someone higher lvl and has killed more (say the name is pink), what's the obvious thing to do? If you're at the same lvl and killing moves and know nothing about the equipment, power, etc the enemy has, you're gonna loose.
    Don't take guesses. Be careful in any kind of battling.
    You should not be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes can make learning easier. (But repeating the same mistakes might not be such a good idea.)
    Also, "right answers" do not stand by themselves: your skills and stats and gear and tactics all need to work together. Even if something works great for someone else, you might find better ways that work for yourself.
    Also, sometimes "worse gear" gives you some advantage that "better gear" would not.
    Speaking of which, my character has 10 magic, and my benefits from those five points I invested in my magic have been totally worthwhile to me (I also have a high level of flight mastery and spend significant time flying). I almost never miss that tiny fraction of damage, and my flying endurance has radically increased. With my current gear, I can recover mana when I fly, and I fly faster than I would with those ugly eagle wings.
    Edit on 6) Knockback arrow is great DPS in pvp, better than quickshot or normal atks, level, but not until maybe 60+ (or really 75+ when you get to butterflies) when you simply have to PvP on daily basis for a leveling spot....unless you're not in LC....
    Tip: Level sharptooth arrow, you deal X% to a boss in 1 shot, even a world boss. You just did the most dmg on that boss (but it doesn't register for drop dmg).
    Tip: At 69, Wind of the Clouds is your best PVE weapon. It stays the best DPS weapon until 80 gold bow (Soulsmasher) or 88 molder xbow (windwatcher).
    Tip:Use winged shell. Even at level 1, it will absorb 80% of the first shot you get hit with, even if that shot does 10k dmg, if you have 2.1k hp, you will not die in 1 shot. Doesn't work agains dot dmg.
    Hello, although i've only just started playing PW, I have some experience of Archery/Hunting in a similar game.
    My best tip for newcomers to archery is to learn how to 'Kite', it will take some practise and trial and error, but is an essential skill for Archers.
    What is 'Kite' or 'Kiting' ?
    Kiting is basically attacking (using stun or slowing the target if you can), then running/retreating to keep a safe distance between yourself and the enemy whilst still hitting them (attack,retreat,attack,retreat), and if done properly you can kill the target without recieving any damage to yourself.
    Probably not the best description of kiting, but I hope it helps.b:cool
    If an experienced Archer in PW would like to give a better description of kiting related to this game I would be most happy.
    Never try to hit a mob while flying unless the mob is flying too, it reduces 50% of the dmg given.
    FB19 crossbows are one of your best pals until bout lvl 32-35, don't try to sell it.
    Stick to lvl 1 arrows , unless for special occasions ( TW, very hard boss, etc.) as the rest are just too expensive. ( my opinion )
    Always look for a cleric to buff u before start grinding or questing especially at lvls 50 +. This way u grind faster and save pots and a lot of money.
    Winged shell is an invaluable skill for a pure dex build archer.
    The "economical" archer mainly uses Frost Arrow and Knockback Arrow to keep the enemy away. Spamming your other skills (stun arrow / deadly arrow / aim low / etc.) will require the occasional potion / jade powder or a piece of focus powder. Herbing is your friend. :P
    Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]
    Other Active Characters:
    LigerKing (Barb), Girasole (BM), Shamsheer (Sin), ArborSoul (Mystic).
    Learn to recognise when you're doing a lot of damage. It might seem like a good thing, but Archers are very hard hitters, and it is likely that you will draw aggro away from the designated tank. Normally the tank should be able to maintain aggro, but if you start critting several times in a row, stop attacking for a few moments.
    I have seen Archers who KNOW they are drawing aggro, and even type it out in squad chat, but never stop attacking until the mob or boss is upon them. Don't be like that.
    Also keep an eye out for stragglers and adds. You're in a better position to keep loose monsters off your Clerics. If you see a mob aggro them, use a utility skill (Stun, Aim Low, Knockback) to draw aggro and give the team a chance to react.
    make a lot of friends. 3 archers same lvl spreaded in a circle around a target can kill almost everything without even kiteing
