Hi!
I just started out this game, played Last Chaos before this.. So Im all new to this, though I recognize some from other games.

Well, after reading some guides here i desided to go for a Mage venomancer.. I saw the armor build thread, which made me slightly confused first, what it had to do with stat points, but then got it.. ;) Well, I was thinking about a dex mage (since last chaos is so evasion based :P) But.. I'm not sure if it would work in this game at all? According to the guide I started to put my stats like this:
1 vit, 4 mag
1 vit, 1 str., 3mag
for each lvl

but then i stopped, because i was thinking of going dex mage instead. so my stat thread looks like this at the moment
Vit: 13
Str: 10
Mag: 31
Dex: 6
without the bonus stats of course.. and oh im lvl 14 and have 25 stat points that I havent used yet...

So.. Hm. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about making a dex mage.. I dont want to mess up my char and start all over again. Is it too late to go dex? How will it reflect on my armor build if I do and how should I place my stats for each lvl?

And also, a question about weapons. I was looking at mag weapons at NPC and Im not sure what is best really. For example, a lvl 2 pestle seemed to have same value as a lvl 3 wand. so whats the point of wands?
Actually this was how it looked
lvl 2 Pestle: mag attack 58-78
lvl 3 wand: mag attack 77-79

Im not really sure what this relationship between 58 and 78, respective 77 and 79 means? I think the pestle had higher physical attack though..

So, any advice would be very appreciated. :)

If you want any evasion I'd suggest going with a Light armor build(have your level +4 strength and dex). Basically, if your level 15 you should have 19 strength and Dex, the rest into mag. An Evasion build would be a possability against melee classes(archer, barb, blademaster) but magic attacks always hit so evasion is no use against any magic class. If you want any evasion I'd suggest the Light armor build but you will lose a little damage that way. Otherwise use the magic build you said at the start of your post.

^Short Version: Evasion build is possible against melee classes but not magic classes. And it has to much loss of magic damage to be a good build.

The weapons mean the rough damage output. 58~78 means it can hit fairly low, or fairly high, for a lvl2 wand, whereas 77~79 will hit consistent damage. The idea that they have the same high stats is that the lvl2 weapon can potentially hit as high as the lvl3 weapon, but of course, not consistently. Whereas if you ''wait'' an extra lvl to get the high lvl weapon, you get the same damage consistently. Since lvl2~lvl3 is all of ten minutes, you might as well jus' wait...sayin' that, no one here encourages buyin' from NPCs...AH and catshops, or even drops and your own craftin' almost always produce better, cheaper results.

To be honest, going for an evasion build on a Veno is basically useless. Unless you're going on the PvP server or planning on doing a lot of TW, your pet will be tanking all the damage for you (except when you get mobbed). You're much better off putting those extra DEX stats into MAG to boost your pet heals and attack spells.

oki, thx.. I'll continue as before then.. But.. I think there goes too much stats into vitality... I guess I would rather put more stats to INT or even strength for that matter.

and oh, about the weapons.. is it worth to learn/max the crafting sills? blacksmith and tailor? btw, when I went to the blacksmither in lost city, I think I could only craft weapons up to lvl 3. after that I saw no more options for crafting a weapon. so.. what really happens with that part?

It actually goes up to level 4 weapons (level 3 blacksmith skill). After that, I assume you go to a higher level town, such as Archosaur, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, in Arch you can craft higher level of weapons. The same applies to Tailor and Craftsman.
