Refining armor - so not worth it?

Sorry didn't see any refining questions in the crafting nook so I figured this goes here.

Yeah, if you get lucky and get it on your first try, sure.

I just put in 5 to get the first boost, and I hadn't looked online to see what it was going to be but let me tell you I was a bit hot when I found out all it gives is +21 HP.

Sure, if you do this to EVERYTHING you own, +140 Hp would be nice.

However, since it cost me 5 stones to get to +1..........................

....................

Anyone here actually refine armor?

The bonuses you get from refining scale upwards based on price.. roughly.

What this essentially means is that while going from 0 to +1 will give 21 hp, going from +1 to +2 will give leave you with more than a mere +42 in total.

Basically yeah. In the very late game you can expect to see some pretty awesome items with the refinements. The +9s and that crazy stuff give an absolute crapload of HP. Not sure of the exact amounts.. but I do know that the amount of HP gained from refining depends on what type of armour it is.
Heavy gets the most HP from refinements, robes get the least. Light is, of course, in between.

Yeah.. later on expect to see armours that give over 1k HP and other similarly crazy stuff.
    Everyone here is ridiculously oversensitive.

it also depends on the lvl of the armor.

    IE:
    this

    has worse refinement then this:

this is the item i'm working on

indeed, for +2, it IS only 42HP.

Then, for +3, they get generous and add 22, for +64

And it will only cost about 600,000 :P

    wow bump

so no one else has any opinions on this major process in the game? any links you could give even?

Still unsure whether it's worth refining everything at least once or not.

And whether to use orbs from the beginning, or to let it be random up to a certain lvl

If your luck is stupidly bad then just use Dragon orbs available under the refine sub-tab in the cash shop. It's roughly 30k for a +1 which gives roughly the same bonus as a average shard.

Not refined armour yet, myself. Don't have enough materials to make more Mirages, and the only 4 I had, I used to +2 my wand. I would say thas worth it; the extra damage is sweet. As for hps, I've been usin' socketed gear and citrine shards. I get about 200 hps from that, as it is, to cover any lack of +s...

    Is it worth it? Yes.

'Guess thas a point too; how much you spend:how long you use it ratio.
I don't wanna start +in' my gear yet, cuz I know thas expensive; only +in' my wand for some extra damage, but I think socketin' is worth it straight away. The extra hps is a large jump, and a lifesaver for a full int build x.x

    Thanks for the replies everyone!

Just to clear this up, they are 50k normally but there is a sale right now.

    Also Avg HP (57k) +25, Common HP (14k) +20, Refining is +19~21 @ level 60

So its closer to the 14k shard than the 60k shard, just to clarify.

14k shard def beats a refining costwise, but I think the point is so you can do both :P

Uh, just to clear this up, this is a permanent reduction in price, not just a sale.

On the news page it says permanent. But we saw what that meant with charm packs.

On the patch notes it does not mention permanent. In addition, all the refining items have that glowing "SALE" tag in the boutique, which is ussually not present when they do a permanent reduction in cost.

I believe its temporary, the evidence is conflicting tho, only time will tell.
