Simple

Hey I'm new and had a few simple questions. I'm sure there are some other threads that deal with these but I'd rather not spend 10 hours looking for them

1. I figured out how to get the skills but what do you do to level them? Do they level along with you or do you have to do something special.

2. Is there a way to respec? An affordable way?

3. The spec points have no bearing on what weapons you can use? You can use all available weapons, its just that each weapon style should be specced differently?

Thx a ton.

I can only answer #1, since the others make no sense to me. XD

You buy your skills from the skill master of your class. Your starter city as well as several main cities (Archosaur, Dreamweaver, etc.) will have one. It costs coin and SP (spirit points) to buy a skill. (You can gain SP from killing monsters and turning in quests.)

As you level, more skills will be unlocked. However you will have an SP crunch during about 60 levels of the game. This is where you should decide your playstyle (offensive, defensive, an attempt at hybriding it.) At about 80+ this crunch vanishes and you are able to explore the skills you abandoned.

There's also a set of quests known as "Spiritual Cultivation". These are neccessary to complete to obtain better skills. No need to worry though. They will only become available as you need them. And the game will make it very obvious that you're up for some cultivating when you reach such points. (A note pops up on the screen.)

Once you buy a skill, you are stuck with it. You can never use lower levels of skills once you obtain a higher level one. You can never turn it in for your SP and coin back. So choose wisely.

    1) For them to lvl u follow the same procedure as learning them. Reach the lvl u get the upgrade, talk to the NPC that matches your class(they have names like: "<randomname> the <class>" and can be found in some towns like Archosaur and your starting one) and if u have enough coins/spirit and any skills needed to learn it u pay the fee and voila!

2)If u mean reset your character at a certain point no I haven't heard of anything like that here. If u mean reallocate the points between Strenght/Dexterity/Magic/Vitality then there are the reset notes(boutique items) that can extract some of the points u already have put in and turn em to unallocated ones. But it's a bit pricey for low lvl players.

3)The only requirments to equip a weapon are the lvl and depending on the type of weapon having certain points at some of your stats(except crossbows and slingshots that are Archer only<tnx to AlpineFrost and Lazyluna for this>). If u have what is needed for a weapon u can equip it no matter what is your class/race etc. Even so using weapons that don't match your class bears many dissadvantages as not being able to use most of your skills so I would suggest stick to the ones suitable for u.

Actually there are some weapons in the game that are class specific, such as the Slingshot (archers only)

LOL. I kind of figured. I only noticed because I was in Plume and looked at the Bow section. I started hovering my mouse over things and all this flashy red text attacked my screen! b:surrender

As for respec, this is a term from other mmos, the equivalent is reset scrolls. They are not readily available, but they are accessible from the cash shop.

Sorry if I used foreign terms. I've been playing Dark Age of Camelot for the past 7 years.

Just curious about this statement. Are the skills in a linear path? So lets say if skill 1 does this than if you buy skill 2(the next skill on the line) you lose skill 1?

I'm just a little lost on this. I'll learn in time.

Within a skill, leveling the skill generally changes some aspect of the skill--usually it does more damage/heals more/stuns longer/whatever the purpose of the skill is. A higher level skill may also have a reduced MP cost or cooldown.

As for prereq skills, say I have skill A lvl 1 that is a prereq to skill B lvl 1 (skill B is an entirely different skill). You won't lose skill A when you buy skill B, you'll have both.

Is that what you were asking?b:question
