Sorry, I know this could have gone under the general discussion part of the forum, but I figured I'd put it here for all the noobs, like me :D

I was just looking around on the net, as you do, and stumbled upon some great general MMO sites. Perfect World was listed, so I checked it out, and it looks AWESOME! I am soooo ready to download and play this game! ^_^

Anyway, to the hello part...

I'm an old MMO player. I got my start with America's Army's first launch, then played Final Fantasy XI for a long time. I picked up Star Wars Galaxies at the request of one of my cousins, beat the **** out of it, and then moved back to FFXI. When Hellgate: London launched, I decided to give it a try, while still playing FFXI. Eventually, I made new friends who played World of Warcraft. I bought it so that me and eight of my friends could sit in the same room and play together. Friends stopped playing and I started looking at other games. Warhammer Online looked interesting, but I tried it and was not a fan of the races, classes or PvP based play. Lord of the Rings Online was fun to play for a while, but I just couldn't dig the massive amounts of quests coupled with very little player to player interaction (help for noobs).

So, here I am, four years later, still missing FFXI for it's helpful and friendly player base, it's amazing art and music, as well as it's wonderful storyline, but definitely NOT for the infinite grind-fest hours needed to be able to access the best story-line content.

So far, the forum community seams to be very friendly, and international games are always my favorite, so, again, I can't wait to play this game!!! And btw...

    Welcome to PW.
    My story is similar to yours...2 years on Guild Wars...a year or so on WOW. Lack of regular playing decided me to stop WOW.
    After experimenting with a lot of free MMO's I finally found PW.
    This is a great game but be prepared to learn and learn..these forums are best place to find out most things or just ask.
    I have been playing PW now for about 3 months and have tried all the classes....that is my advice, do that and finally you will decide which you like best.
    Well I hope your download and update is finished now and you are in the PW.

    This is my second MMORPG (3 years on Guildwars), wanted a change and was recommended this by a mate.

    Oh, wow! Thanks for warm welcome, and please, don't make this just my thread; this should be for anyone who wants to announce themselves to their fellow noobs and helpful veterans! :D

    So, glad to see all the posts! This is the main reason I enjoy international games; it usually brings helpful and courteous players to the forefront of gameplay, game development and the community, in general... even if all the players interacting are from the same country, lol.

    Sad to say that I can't get my ISP to allow me to download .torrent files (sux) so while I was away on business, I just left my Mozilla Firefox download tool (the default one) do it's thing. All the downloads timed out and are unusable and unrecoverable, so I'll be downloading the packets one at a time.

    Pharse, thank you so much. I'm sure that the game will have much to offer. Community in an MMO is what keeps me playing, so I'm eager to jump in and find out more.

    Nightyne, I general enjoy solo classes and pet classes (which are usually one and the same). I am always a fan of the archer classes, but notice that the pet class in PW relies on, unless I am mistaken, degenerative and debilitating 'poisons' for damage, and the pet as a tank?

    Kalador, new to the game, but figured out the system, already, eh? Yeah, I'm ready to jump in a throttle my various toons' optimizations to the max! As soon as this download is finished, I'm likely to not stop with this game until I've personally explored every nook and cranny, and if I see you along the way, you can expect a wave. Q(^.^)o

    Hello fellow FFXI-er b:victory
    I too play FFXI and endgame but its on hold atm since im playing PWI a bit =D
    You will like PWI in the way that you can get things done like lvling when
    you have only an hour to spare.

    Higher lvls not as popular 'merit' like parties to power grind, seems this game is more solo based. Around lv70s the exp you need for the next lvl is absurd lol... b:bye I cant imagine whats it like to get to 80s and 90s with this. (Atm its like 1.5hr grinding solo for less than 10% your tnl exp) If youve gotten lv75 FFXI in about 2-3weeks, then the rate on PWI might be 1.5 months for a lv70. GL!
