Are there any unspoken rules about PVP/dueling?

No offense, but if I have a weapon with greater reach, I will kite the **** out of you. Not to mention long range skills and AoE's, leaps, etc etc. No way am I going to fight in sword range with a spear. That's asking to die.

In duel it's alright but in normal pvp if both melee users kite each other you're up for a long fight that will never end or that will end when one of the two fighter's hiero runs out. Off course you have a higher chance of dieing but to win these fights you need to take a risk else it will never end.

A sword melee should never kite...period...except to avoid something very very lethal. Oh and to keep fist out of melee range, but i dont know if the difference in range is enough to do it effectively. Any swords care to comment?

If you have a long range weapon, your job is to keep opponents out their melee range. Spears should make use of this, and if they dont, they are noobs. Polearms' greatest advantage is range and bleeds. Use them.

Fist, etc...should not kite either, because they need to be in melee range.

To say that kiting is useless to melees is not totally correct. No its not kiting in the traditional sense, but every melee character should max and make use of their range. Not doing so is wasting an advantage. Obviously if two fighters with the same range are fighting...kiting is useless. Nothing but a waste of time. Long range fighters, however, use it to great effect.

Yes, I do that in duels too. Nothing funnier than jumping on the Khatru Pup to avoid attacks. Or that secret room near west's tailor. >_>
