    If yall think this is bad.go read about the online love scams I see going on daily in this video game.

    Goes to both women and men yes im sure men do it more.

    People loose thier life saving's trusting people they meet on the internet.

    Just dont go looking for love on the internet, let it come to you slowly over time.nothing worth having is instantaneous esp not love.

    I only have a few things to say here. I've seen some heartless, juvenile people respond in this thread. To you... I honestly pity your small shriveled heart and hope that someday, before it's to late, you learn what compassion is. I've also seen some real good decent people here, and to you I say.. Right on.

    PWI team, i'm no fanboy.. ya'll mess up, i'll be one of the first to bite your elbows for it (grumbles about charm packs), but it's good to see you handling this as you have. It shows that while money is what your company is trying to get/make (a reasonable thing considering your a business), you don't want that money if it's tainted in such a manner. Unlike some companies I know of (points to the oil industry) who don't care if their profits hurt anyone.. it's nice to see a company that does care.

    Thanks you for sharing this with us, it's a sad story, but one that hopefully not be frequently repeated.

    @GMs (esp orinj) : this is not a matter to be discussed on. You should not have allowed ppl to reply for it. Ppl allowed to reply to this has become more a menace than i hope wht was originaly indented.

    Is this the first major instance that's happened here? I've heard tons of stories from other online games, where the user bought hundreds or thousands of $ in game money and gave away tons of items, shifting the in-game market, before being caught and banned.

    There should probably be some sort of extra verification after $200 or so, when you get into the major fraud that parents can't just forgive their kids for, (eg. where they seriously can't afford it and have to ask for the money back).

    Personally, I think the parents are lacking in terms of teaching their kids responsibility, but that's another issue.

    He threw his family away when he pulled this ****...... if a member of my family pulled something like this I can promise it would be very dangerous for them to come around me.

    I have done stupid things with money when i was young, its part of growing up, some people just make bigger mistakes than others.
    I feel bad for any of you that would want to hurt a kid for being dumb with money.
    unless were talk'n 15 or up, then beat the **** outta the kid :)

    I hate people like that! I bet this "grandson" was within the ages of 16-20. She was nice enough to let him have some money despite knowing she couldn't afford much, and he took complete control of her kindness. If i was her, and/or a member of his family, I'd make him pay it all back (if he's 16+, in most places, he can at least get a job at McDonalds or something!).

    If i was PW, I'd plaster his username (in game; even the multiple ones) all over the site and make an example out of him! >o

    ... And people call me a sad drama queen when I say that one's family is their worst enemy and mankind is rotten to the core.

    I feel sad for that lady. And worried too, because as she did willingly give her card code to her grandson, card insurances won't work. I hope an agreement will be reached to avoid a lengthy 'abuse of trust' being brought to the courts. :(

    I believe the child should be severely reprimanded.

    However, as heartless as this may sound - this sort of incident stresses the IMPORTANCE OF WATCHING YOUR TRANSACTIONS.

    Anyone paying the credit bill recieves a statement in the mail - or at least has access to statement reports.

    I for one do.

    Its important to read over that statement too. Many people committing credit card fraud these days are a smart about it. Keep your recipts. Tally them up. Compare past statements with the previous.

    Had the grandparents been watching their credit statement they could have clearly seen this growing sum of transactions. At the first sign they could've notified the credit companies and they would've frozen the account and absorbed the difference.

    Now as for the child, well I dont know what to say... When you know your family isn't in a financially sound situation - exspecially with the economic woes that have plagued us late 2008 and which could continue for quite some time (slow growth) - it isn't a good idea to spend that much money.

    I'd look at a family member much more differently if they ever did that to me.

    It's been suggested that the kid be perma banned from PW. I'd like to suggest that his details are passed to other MMO publishers to prevent him from gaining access to similiar games. This may appear to violate his rights, but we are talking about trying to prevent another crime - if he's committed fraud once he might easily do it again.

    As for him being "just a kid" - sorry that's no excuse. He knew what he was doing, he should face the criminal jsutice sytem and have his name publicised (by the courts), to make it more difficult for him to commit the same crime again - but that's not gonna happen.
