Teleport Pricing is Ridiculous

ok so i travel from Archosaur to Etherblade cost me 1k, then go to travel back and cost me 3k, what is up with that. same way with traveling to other places, cost you one price to go there and a higher price to go back to the same place.
not sure if there is another post about this, i searched but could not find it.
anyway, has anyone else noticed this and what do you think?
they need to revamp the prices and make them more resonable.

I don't think completely illogically teleporting locations and pricing are there just to waste our money and time.0 -
It's not completely illogical. It's harder to run uphill than downhill. Maybe Archosaur has some magical repulsive field which makes teleporting into it harder than teleporting out?0

Shall we call it the "Glue of Commerce?"
I second the OP btw. The major hubs are fine, but 5k for going the 500 yards from Sumor to Swiftwind? Come on...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Well the question begs to be asked, "Why would you teleport 500 yards in the first place...?"
Anywho...though at lower levels it may seem a bit daunting to teleport at the prices from place to place, once you hit level 70, and start doing World Quest (or whatever it is called on this version) the logic will be a bit clearer.
At lower levels, the majority of players struggle with finances, balancing equipment upgrades with skill improvements, with a dash of potions and repairs thrown in as well. But money comes in much easier as you increase in levels, as you now have options of farming lower level fbs, doing Twilight Temple runs for mats and the quality of loot in general is valued more. If you struggle for money at higher levels, you are not being creative enough in your options!
At level 70, you can take on another daily quest where you need to speak to about 20 different NPCs around the map. If you are lazy and have the money, you can burn through around 100k in teleports doing this. Without massive gold sinks, higher level players would quickly be sitting on piles of gold, with little to spend it on except in player created commerce. With that much extra gold laying around, they would simply buy whatever they wanted, regardless of price. The end result would be a highly accelerated inflation, completely pricing the lower levels out of the equation. And don't think that they would just spend it on high level gears and such. Higher levels get bored, and start making alts, and will buy all the top lower gear because they can, and want to speed up the level grind as much as possible.
In game economies are touchy things. When I first started playing this over a year ago, I was shocked also at the prices of repairs, pot usage and teleporting. But as I leveled, and started to get the bigger picture into view, it made a lot more sense.
All game economies eventually fall to inflation because players are increasingly clever at ways to generate income. They always find ways to generate more gold in game than the game is designed to remove through "Gold sinks". Trust me, be glad these gold sinks are in place now, rather than learn later without them we would be paying 50k for level 20 Dragon Quest items in a year! Sure new players then might think "WOW! I sold 10 Soft Furs and got half a million! I am rich!" Only to find out that the level 20 armor they had been watching on the auction sold for 2 million...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

@Twilyte: You are making a valid point, and I am not generally saying that transporting though higher level areas shouldn't be more expensive than lowbie areas. But there a few connections where you'd need multiple hops to get from A to B, which would add up a 5 digit number of cash for just one route. Which is a bit over the top in my opinion. I guess they could adjust those to more sensible levels without giving up the "money sink" character of extensive teleporting.
Yes, you are right, money comes more easily in the higher levels, but also don't forget that skills/daily quests etc. get hellishly expensive at these levels, too. This game has plenty of money sinks already.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Kimyrielle, don't get me wrong. There are plenty of things that make me cringe when I see the prices! Heck, my main is a Cleric, so trust me, I know all about being broke!
But, I suppose my point is this: some of the short hops are more of a luxury, rather than need. I have had the "pleasure" of teaching this lesson to my two sons who play, ages 9 and 10. They assume "I am in Hidden Orchid and I need to get to City of Misfortune...therefore, I tele from Hidden to Arch, Arch to Allies, Allies to Angler's, Angler's to Misfortune."
Soon after, their next statements are "How come it won't let me teleport?" "Do you have enough gold?" "No...where did it all go?".
Their path would have been the fastest (short of buying tele stones in the cash shop of course), however, if memory serves, it would cost them around 13k. As an alternative, run/fly from Hidden Orchid to Arch, tele to Ether then to Timber and run/fly to the water then fly the rest of the way to Misfortune. Total cost, 1200 gold.
Have to get to Tusk Town from Arch? Arch, Silverpool, Manor, King's Feast, to Tusk will cost a small fortune! Instead, Arch to Plume to Bamboo, then run...1200. It's all about convenience and how much of a hurry we are in.
The path for the World Quest (and I haven't done it since I left the other version so my locations may be out of order) follows some of the most expensive routes if you go directly. Something like Arch, to Village of Brutes, to Timber, to Silverpool, to Hidden Orchid, to NE Arch, to Allies, to Angler's to Misfortune, THEN to Tradewind, Swiftwind, Sumor...all the way to Sundown, then north to that guard by the road, back to Dragons End, to Manor, Tusk, and so on, and so on.
Yes, I have "raced" through that mess, but many of the spots you can find alternative jump points to that won't break your wallet. A lot of people actualy start doing afk flying during that, simply because they can take a break for a few minutes.
Skills, yes, we need them. We don't need all of them while leveling (thank God!!) but after level 59, you don't really get "new" skills, just skills that we want to level up as we get funding. Heck, I know I had to pick and choose what skill sets I wanted rather than get everything that was available each level. But once I have that chosen skill set where I want it, I can go back and add in the ones I skipped.
But, teleporting is more of an option, and yes, while it is handy, technically, it's not needed all the time.
Don't give in to the "instant satisfaction" syndrome and you can survive in even the harshest in game economy.
Peace![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
My thought is what Arch is THE central hub for all races. It's the first place that all meld together and learn how each can support a squad. I think since it's the most popular, it's the most expensive.
Higher demand = higher prices ...0 -
Teleporting is a Privilege If you can afford it you can use it if you can't then you can't
Don't complain its a gold sink and thank god its there!
If you really don't got gold to teleport once In a while then I feel bad for you!
Learn the shortcuts and get a mount/wings0 -
Agree lower prices of Teleports this instant PW and potions and fix the damn Arenas ....0

At least there's a way around the 3k teleport fee for Archosaur. Just talk to one of those huge Khatru Pups you see in Etherblade, Lost, Plume, or Dreamweaver, and enter the Cube of Fate. Then run over to the exit guy in the cube's starting room and tell him you want to leave. You'll find yourself in Archosaur's north district, for free!"Sorry, we don't need a barbarian. We have a frog."0
-
I really don't care about the price. I can afford it easily. Pay if you want or be my guest if you want to run for 45 minutes from Etherblade to Plume.

You can always just teleport to a town between your current location and destination for 200 coins and then walk/swim the rest of the way.
Of course when I can fly I'll just go really high plot my course and make a sandwich. It's free and you get to fill your belly!0 -
I like that Samatia. ^__^ thats what I do too. b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think it should be the further you go, the more expensive it is
Like Plume-Etherblade (2k?)
But Plume-Archosaur (1k)
In game its like the same price.Steam Acc - Blugblugy || Steam Nickname - Blugyblug ||Xfire - Blugyblug || - Call of Duty 4/Modern Warfare 2/COD: Black Ops - Blugyblug ||League of Legends - Blugyblug||Forsaken World - Coalescence (mage)0 -

Samatia - Heavens Tear wrote: »Which part? The half way tele or the flying? lol
Both lol ^__^
If I run or fly, I usually grab herbs and mine all the way. This way I get mats at the same time of me going to a place I need to go. But If i get hungry, I do what Samatia does, Fly up high and hit somewhere far and make something to eat. Be cautious though, I did that one time and forgot. I was flying from Etherblade to Archo and ended up in Dreamport near the end of the map instead AHahah b:pleased[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Aye,
this is what I do.
Gather materials I need for crafting, or will eventually sell. It's not everyday you can or have time to, so I make it a point to do it during long travels.
Turning a money sink around into profit is always the best route. Never know, sometimes you see interesting things along the path as well.Oishasan

The price isn't gonna change. If you don't find teleporting to be an effective way of spending money, then don't teleport. Simple as that.Everyone here is ridiculously oversensitive.0

haha ok I didn't understand much of this post but for some reason it made me laugh. Hell I dunno maybe it's the beer.0 -
Untill now lvl37, I haven't used the teleport service that much. Nor did I've had any major money problems. I know a lot of players that teleport from archosaur to city of the lost all the time, while it isn't really that far. Usually I just run or fly, and when I'm in a hurry, I go to welspring village, and then teleport. Saves you 800 coins. People teleporting from allies camp to archosaur is also pretty dumb. It doesn't even take 5 min. Of course, teleporting will become expensive that way.
Also a way to save time in traveling (works to lvl 37 at least), is to group you quests in a logic way for traveling. It may sometimes make you lvl a bit weird (sometimes I have to kill mobs a bit over my lvl, and sometimes way below my lvl), but it saves time traveling. Right now, I have 2 quests finished, but I still have to report back. However, reporting back would take 10 min of flying, and then I have to come back. So I just wait till I have to go that direction any way, or till I have to go to the bathroom, make a sandwich or anyting like that.0 -
AFK Airlines FTW. I propose that PWI hands out some serious logging permits though...0
