Im studing to be a webdesigner, well i just started and going to study more this spring.

Anyway i think that in the faction (guild) window there is on the right side on the upper row of buttons and litte space witch whould be big for a button that says "www" that opens up the players browser, like mozilla and minimaze the game. (not a in-game brower)

Just like the "buy gold" button in cashshop.

Here is a concept and original screens:

well i have no lagg in game and i have my browser allways up becuse i allways on some flash game site or checking the forums (mainly for searching on quests etc)..

and why whould this lagg, its not diffent then adding new stuff to game..

Yes there will allways be some laggs and it differs from server to server. that i can understand, but not everyone has same speed connection or play from the same country. Heck im even playing from Sweden.

Anyway i think is a very good idea to bring the new player to the faction webbsite and/or forums.

Starting up a web browser can add significant slow-down, at least from my experiences in it (presumably a well-built one would be better than what a few SoE games have, but I haven't experienced a well-built one). The first time I clicked a news stand in {cough unnamed really bad subscription model MMO with bullet time}, I thought the game had frozen. Not sure why the games with it usually have that problem from a programming viewpoint, but it's been reliable in MMO's built the same time as PWI's framework. Overlays have demonstrated better design to be possible, though.

I'm not quite sure I understand the point, though. Guild forums usually are something you do outside of the game, and in a world of Firefox, web browsers are things people get attached to. It seems like having an easily copy-pasted text box (or better, guild forums at easily typed web addresses) would do the same job.

since you can't put spaces or punctuation in your guild "message", it's hard to put your guild website address in there for people to cut and paste (if the game even has a way to highlight and copy that text).

I kinda imagine his WWW button working more like "Copy Name" on a player does - just takes a string the guild leader sets, and puts in your clipboard for easy pasting into the browser of your choice. (At least I'd prefer it that way because if it tried to open a browser for me, it would probably open the wrong one, anyway)

i dont know if your thinking about in-game browers or not.. anyway

this funktion is not new and all ready exist.

And this is in the Item Mall (yellow sun on minimap). Its the "buy gold" button.

It tabs out of the game and opens the players browers (here i mean firefox, explorer, opera etc etc and not some in-game one) and wola there is the site to pay for zen.

So why not do the same witht the guild where the guild leader enters in the guild site address and when i member clicks that button it dose the as the "buy gold" button.

Sry but im haveing hard time to see how a browers can lagg a game..sry just dont seem right to me... sense it works all fine to me and yes it take 2-3 in fullwindow or les in window mode to tab switch.

I had this thought too, it would be nice to put in a link or at least easy to copy link in the faction motto so guild members can access the site easier than remembering "wwwDOTdragoonsDOTsite90DOTCOM" and manually translating and typing it out themselves.

Well at first i tought that they should inplant BB or HTML link codes.. then i saw that emty space next to that button and saw that "WWW" should fit int there so i made concept.. what do i know it fit. so i poste this idea here.. and still think this is good.

With html, there could be a link in the faction slogan to the forums, and it could open up your external browser for you. That way, it won't put any strain on the PW servers and affect other players.

I think that's almost exactly what she had in mind ,except for the text link bit. The only way it could put any strain on the servers is if it opened up an in-game browser and used the servers as web proxies, which would be completely pointless and give anyone a chance to abuse the system. A button that just launched the user's default browser and directed to the guild's website would be all and as easy as pi.

The only problems with this is launching it would have to minimize the client and still may cause severe performace issues (especially if the player has very little RAM as it is, for example) for some and what if the leader or director points the site address to a malicious website? These problems can't be solved easily now that I think of it....
