Question about clothes

I have a question regarding the clothing that you can buy from the boutique. Do you still get protection from your armor when you wear clothes and armor but your clothes is the one you appear to be wearing?

    the boutique clothes are just there for show

    they are just a layer of pretty clothes on top of your normal armor, to hide the armor which everyone has and to show some individuality, if you like.
