How do I start the game?

When my Perfect World Updater comes up (the one that comes up after I click on the icon), I try to click on one of the servers to play, but nothing ever happens. It keeps telling me that an update error has occurred and asks me if I wish to retry. How do I fix this and play the game? I'm very excited to try it, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Alright, it sort of worked. The start button finally came up, but when I click on it, an error message with a string of foreign characters comes up and the game will not start. Any ideas what this may be?

    I do appreciate your help!

I downloaded the eastern languages, but the same message keeps coming up. I don't know what to do now. ??? Which language in particular is it? I installed the pack, and had to choose which ones to add, so I added Chinese and Japanese. Did I add the wrong ones?

East Asian Language support should come from a CD, not from the internet... legally, at least.

If you've followed the instructions in Aryannamage's link and the problem persists, please provide us the following fields from a DXdiag :
System Tab - System Information box -
    Operating System :
    Processor :
    Memory :

Display Tab - device box -
    Name:
    Chip Type:
    Approx Total Memory:

Display Tab - driver box -
    Main Driver :
    Version :
    Date:

    To open a dxdiag :
In Vista, type dxdiag in the Start menu search bar
In other versions of Windows, type dxdiag in the Run command (Start > Run)

I followed the instructions, but I don't know where to get all of that information. No offense to anyone at all, but I'm beginning to think this might be more trouble than it's worth. I've been trying to get on for a week now, and I still can't play. b:cry

Your graphics card is at the lower end of the minimum system requirements, but it should be sufficient. Try updating to the newest driver version:

alright, I downloaded that, but when I restarted my computer, my screen was blank except for a small (a few mm) strip of color at the top. I restarted it, and the same problem. I'm using a different computer right now because that one's useless until I can figure out how to fix it.

Please start Windows into Safe Mode, and roll back your display driver.

Okay, I started it in safe mode. Should I do a system restore, or something else?
I really do appreciate all of your help here. I would have no idea what to do with any of these problems myself. b:thanks

Since it's reversible, i went ahead and did the system restore, and everything's back to normal. I assume it would be folly to try the update again? b:surrender
Is there anything else I can do that might get this game to work?

Just going to device manager, display devices, nVidia Geforce 6100 properties, roll back would have worked, too, but system restore is functional.

Can you describe your system's manufacturer, and model number?

Sorry it's taken me so long to answer. I downloaded advanced systemcare today, which provided me with an update to my driver which did not otherwise harm the system. The game now works! Thank you for all your help!
