Pet Eggs

The other night I found 6 pet eggs laying on the ground so I picked them up. They range in levels from 9 to 36. I'm new so I didn't understand then that only Venomancers could use these eggs.

Are they worth anything?

    I knew someone was going to ask that and I'm at work and can't look it up.

    But I believe one was a turtle of some kind and one was some kind of Drake, but I'm not 100% sure.

    I'll look tonight and post them tomorrow.

    If they're rare pets they could be worth a bit.
    If they're anything else they're worth about what you can npc them for.

    The mere fact that they've been dropped is usually a good indicator that they're next to worthless.

    Most rare pet eggs found dropped aren't worth anything but the NPC price. D:

    The problem with selling those pet eggs, is only Venomancers can acquire them, and only Venomancers can use them. If a Veno should decide he wants some type of pet, he can go tame it himself and not ever have to buy it. There's really only 3 cases for pet egg selling (none apply to your 6 eggs);

    (A) Rare pets. These spawn once or twice every 12 hours. Many many Venos all competing for it, some with high speed channelling gear. Because of the competition and rarity, many chose to buy it rather then try to tame.

    (B) All-class. These are just decoration pets. But they are created by mixing together 5-10 eggs (some often rares themself). So someone wishing to create an all-class for themself may buy the 'ingredient' eggs.

    (C) The high level laziness facter. Often a Veno finally decides after 60+ levels that he/she wants a Golen (or something else, just an example). However those are known as being so good when levelled from 17/18. Well the Veno might try and seek out a pre-levelled Golem rather then try and level the new pet all they way up themself.

    If the eggs don't fall into those categories, they can only be NPCed for 1 coin. So If a Veno has eggs lying around they don't want, they just drop em.

    There's one other case.

    (D) Difficulty/expense/time of travel. For example, it would take a lot of time for a level 8 veno to get the level 8 sawfly, which is way down past the City of Plume with no teleport available at that level. So those seem to sell rather well if they're priced reasonably (a few k). Likewise the level 17 golem might sell ok for 2k or less in the City of the Lost since going to Etherblade and back to tame one yourself would cost you 2k anyway just for the teleports.

    (E) If you want to make a baby pet, you need the eggs for various pets.

    And the snatchfoot foxwing is one of those, so it might sell for more
