First of all let me do a short intro.

I'm Devlinne(IGN). me and my wife started playing this game like 4 days ago.

This is my 3rd MMORPG.I'm playing. So ofcourse i hit the forums here to learn all about the class and procedures...etc.

I'm playing an EA.According to sources here, the general consensus is that the 4dex 1 str plan is the way to go.

I am currently doing this and i must say,the lack of def and vit make it ABIT hard to lvl COMFORTABLY.

So perhaps some pros here could enlighten me.

Why is it people don't just make a good PVM character with whatever stats they have to,to lvl fast and comfortably.......then at END lvl use the reset scroll to redistribute the stats to LEET settings?

I don't know if this has been discussed before, and i apologise in advance if this is a redundant topic.

It just that i see threads saying"have i spoiled my charcter.." and i am wondering HOW could a char ever be spoiled if we all ahve the reset option?

Thanks in advance for any and all help:)

hi, i too started with an archer & found it very expensive to maintain, mainly because of the excessive use of arrows & pots, until i learned more.

maybe i can help a bit - when players give a ratio for character builds, i believe its very general, not at all descriptive, & sometimes malicious >.>

there are many options for character builds here, but you'll find that the pure builds are the best, for the simple fact that it utilities that classes strengths.

as an archer, your going to want enough strength to wear light armors (watch out for helmets, they have 1 point higher requirement than armors of the same level), & of course most of the rest goes to dex (every 20 dex is 1% more crit).

i can tell by the questions you asked that you'll do just fine by continuing reading forums.

remember this about gems for future reference...

*physical defense & evasion gems don't work against magic attacks
*magic defense gem don't work against physical attacks
*although a slightly lower benefit, Hit Point gems give the most effective all around survivability

also, you may want to consider using the least expensive arrows/bolts/shot, even into higher levels, as the slight damage increase is far offset by the expense. Take the expensive arrows into township wars if you become involved with it.

same with potions, have pots your level on hand for emergencies, but for normal grinding use pots from the previous 10 lv's.

High level ammunition can add 10% damage (your dex bonus multiplies that damage just like your bow damage).

If you go from a pure build (4 dex, 1 strength per level) down to a build that only puts 3 points in dex per level, that might cost you 10% of your damage during your mid levels, but could drastically increase your health and/or mana recovery times between battles. Or maybe you could buy up one or two recovery stats some moderate, to save on potion costs, and stay near a "pure build" once you have achieved that.

Personally, I have 10 magic, because I like flying (and I also wear a +2 MP/second hat), and I still have had problems with pulling bosses away from multiple tanks, because I do too much damage. But I guess that that is ok, because when I die that gives me proportionally extra spirit for my level (except when they get killed when I am dead).

Thanks for the valuavle info.I will keep in mind what is said here.

Just that my main question wasn't answered.

    Let me rephrase.....

Is there some penalty or glitch with the RESET STAT system?

Because i plan to (for example) go str and vit for my for my elf to survive better while killing to help me lvl......THEN when he is high lvl i intend to reset the points making him all dex and only str enuff to wear the gears.

This would make me lvl comfortably and STILL in the end get the pure stats due to reset.

My question is,i see noone talking about this method in forums and i doubt i am the first one to think of this........so WHY is noone doing it?Is there something i am misunderstanding or not seeing?

Thank you for your continued support and answers:)

You don't get spirit when you die. What are you talking about?

Yes higher level ammo can give a little boost to damage, but it costs WAY too much for what it gives.

You COULD go with whatever build you want, generally the only two builds that are given any credence are the pure (1str/4dex every lvl) and the "hybrid" (1str/1vit/3dex every lvl). The hybrid is generally attacked on the grounds that at lvl 80 (or 100, mind slips at the moment, but still the point is made) you are only getting an extra 1280 hp, which by then is about 1 hit from a baddie your lvl. Which isn't much of a trade off considering a pure build will just kill that baddie before it reaches him.

If you're having trouble leveling you should squad up when doing grind quests. It helps move things ALOT faster. Also you might want to change up what skills you're using during a fight. There are good suggestions all over the forums on the more useful archer skills. Good luck man. Archers rule, so stick with it.

It costs money. The pure build is better throughout the life of the archer, not just at the end. And the scrolls don't let you change all stats at once. Each one (successively costing more money) lets you change a higher number of stat points. But more importantly, pure build is the way to be at any lvl. You're an archer, you shouldn't be getting hit too many times as it is. Why sacrifice damage to take hits that you shouldn't be taking?

You don't get spirit when you die. What are you talking about?

I do not lose spirit when I die, only experience. So, when I die, I wind up with some extra spirit compared to how much experience I have.

If I die a lot, I might even have enough spirit to buy an extra point in one of my skills.

(Something similar holds true for coins, but you can lose items from your inventory when you die, and you still have repair costs for your gear, so that part can be risky.)

Note also, that if you are collecting materials for your production skill quests, you might want to die to avoid leveling. You typically need hundreds of drops from when you are in your mid-30s for your level 50 production quests and collecting them without gaining levels would be nearly impossible unless you die frequently. However, collecting that much stuff might get boring, and dying that often might lose your drops, and I do not think I would recommend this approach.

Edit: but you can still farm those opponents when you are level 50. You just have to kill 2-3 times the number of opponents you would have had to kill when you were in your 30s.

Pure build is the most effective build from level 19+. (As soon as you get your FB19 weapon). Before that, kiting is a more useful strategy and takes minimal potions. Basically just quest to level 19, do the FB, and enjoy your pure build from there.

As an archer you are meant to kill your mob before it reaches you or run if it gets too close. I have made several archers and the best by far is the pure build...all dexterity and strength enough for light armor.
Not the easiest class to play but my favorite.

Yes. Absolutely. The 1 str per level is only there to allow you to use the latest light armor every level it becomes available. EVERYTHING else into dex. Which is why you can get away with calling it pure dex build when there's 1/5 going into str. It's just for your armor. Dex ups your crit rate, accuracy, evasion, ranged damage, as an archer you have only pathetic excuses to put points elsewhere. What else is important to an archer but ranged damage and accuracy/evasion? Only a decent well rounded armor, hence the 1 str.
