Not guessing. And armor being good or bad just reduces the damage you take, not your repair bill.

Yep, no guessing involved. I do several small repairs to "cushion" the blow. But yeah roughly 200K-500K per level in the 60, particularly if you run a few FBs/TTs

Really? I thought the equipment with improved stats (purple 2/3star) cost a bit more to repair than the normal white NPC ****.

Well, the repair bill does get higher with level, but 3stars/legendary at low lvs didnt cost much, now even 1star gear costs a lot.
Maybe its based on item value? With endurance involved on the formula somehow...Who knows.
