Refining?

What exactly does refining a weapon or armor do?

Is it worth it to refine low level gear, or hold onto the stones for high level gear?

    Refining weapons add damage and refining armors adds hp. Ornaments add more defence (ele def orn adds more ele def when refining etc.) Phys rings add pdef and mag rings add mdef. Id recommend only refining gear you know you will be using for a long time. Ie dont refine level 30 gear cause you will outlevel it in like a week (depending on how fast you level) if you level slow you can refine it tho

    I personally didn't bother with refining until level 90 equipment. Level 80 probably wouldn't be a bad idea to at least +2 or so though.

    How many times can items be refined? And how much gain do you get from doing it?

    sorry for my question, but which weapons and armory can i refine? i tried once, but it says that my weapon's got no slots, or so b:sad
    do i need special weapons / armory?

    Wow. That explanation is scary. Looks like there's more risk involved in refining than I had thought. It's gotta be pretty beneficial to balance that risk though.
