Sword Specialtiy + PvE: useless?

The only guide I've ever read about BMs on here suggests that a sword BM does a lot of damage, fast, to high-HP players. But since I have no interest in PvP, my question is: does that "lots of damage, fast" rule work in PvE as well? Is a sword BM, in general, more efficient at damage dealing? If not, what advantages does a sword BM have in PvE, over other BMs? Any at all?

Alternatively: what are the arguments for and against a fist BM?

Sword BM has no advantages over Axe/Polearm Blademaster at PvE.

1.- Your damage can't be compared with Axe's one past level 70, because of Berserker, and most of time you will be outdamaged by Polearm when fighting a single target.

2.- Without AoE's, your leveling rate will be much more slower than using other weapons.

Your skills are basically:

A) One attack that decreases chanelling by 50%, that doesn't really has much use during PvE, just against some bosses.

One ranged attack, that is not match for Spear one.

C) One push back skill that only hits one target, while Spear one is linear AoE.

D) An ultimate skill that will lower the magical/physical attack of the opponents, while other ultimates will amplify your damage or decrease the defenses for faster killing.


And Fist is the same as sword, just with half or 1/3 of your damage.
