Perfect World Entertainment > Perfect World > (I forget which to click) > Screenshots

And usually Program Files. The default installation directory in a 32-bit operating system is C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\screenshots. In 64-bit operating systems that changes to C:\Program Files (x86)\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\screenshots.

They're saved as .bmp files, so a strongly recommend converting them to something like .jpg (for small file sizes) or .png (for higher image quality) before uploading them for bandwidth reasons.

They're .bmp files. They should work through an Open With... C:\Windows\system32\mspaint.exe. Can you describe what error you're getting?

Paint dates back to Windows 1.0, although it was called paintbrush for a while in the middle. You're really supposed to have it on your system.

If you can't find it (or if you'd just like a better application), freeware like Paint.Net, Irfanview, or the more complicated but much more powerful GIMP are all available.

    Photobucket does awful image compression.

I will provide a warning about GIMP : it's as powerful, if not more powerful, as Photoshop. It's also dozens of times more complicated, and it shows the design philosophy you'd expect when a bunch of engineers build a user interface.

If you aim to do a lot of serious image editting and can not afford to plunk down the hundreds of dollars involved in Photoshop, it's well worth learning. For basic image work or converting files, it's probably overkill and not quite as efficient as Irfanview or Paint.Net.

I've been using Paint.net for a while, it works alright and has some kewl photo options. A buddy of mine from highschool was in on the early stages of it's conception, he's since moved on, but the project is a good one.

It's just not as versatile as I'd like.

GIMP is one of the best, if not the best, free image-editing programs out there. http://www.gimp.org/
