Yes, this game is about Chinese mythology (Sigh yet another Asian MMO >_>) but I would like to see more mythology. How about the home to Confucius, the god of knowledge? Is he friends with Pangu? Were is he from? What is his mysterious story?

I also seen some thing about Drakes. The Rhinodrakes you have been wondering about happens to be a mix of a Rhinoceros and a Drake which is a dragon... Tho they seem cute, who knows that powers might reside in them... Who knows, they may look like THIS:

One last thing before I wrap this up, what is truley missing from this game is the Emperor... Who is this mysterious Emperor? Is he a Jade Emperor? Is he a Water Emperor? A... FIRE Emperor? Who leads the Wraiths? WHO is the leader of Archosaur?

Yeah... If you have any suggestions, feel free to add on...

    I like this idea too.

    One of the main things that convinced me into playing this MMORPG was the "based on Chinese mythology" claim. Though, after a month playing it I feel that should be changed to "based around the Lord of the Rings universe with some small winks to actual chinese legends". Or maybe I'm wrong and JRR Tolkien was born in China... Seriously, even The Adventures of Jackie Chan feature more chinese contents than this game.

    Anyways, back to the topic:

    - All the MMORPG's feature "races" or "jobs". But so far the only race actually taken from Chinese folklore are the Venomancers. (Yeah, that's why you can't be a male venomancer, pick up any chinese story and you'll realize foxes can only transform into beautiful maidens). However, that could be solved by putting a "Two-tailed Cat" class. In some tales, they are male and can revive corpses by jumping on them. Yep, for anybody who misses a Necromancer class on this game.

    - There are already Elves in this game. And lots of (unrealistic) pretty faces and bodies around. Why not something different and chinese, like the Lo-ch'ai? Taken from Pu Sung-ling's Tales of LiaozHai, they are a race whose main characteristic is their uglyness. According to the tale, the most ufly and hideous, the most powerful and important they were. So, they could be a good "Anti-elf" class, sort of like the Orcs for JRR Tolkien. In a spanish translation of the book, they are renamed "Rakhzhas", though I dunno why, maybe it was easier to pronounce.

    - Now that I mention the Tales of Liaozhai. Where are the ghosts? Only wraiths and these lanterns and flame things? Yeah, I want more ghosts. Ghost wheels, ghost ships, and even ghost NPC's!

    - And as Zenathal said, for a chinese MMORPG, it has a great lack of dragons. Where are the classical serpent-like china dragons? And Buddha? Why Taoism gets more screen-time in this game? (Well, words) The Emperor should be the Jade Emperor, isn't it?

    Hmm yeah... It might be a Jade emperor... Perhaps there was a Jade emperor till he became a FIRE emperor? He could of been a god like Pangu and helped formed the world and put the 4 races togethor? Perheaps he was the original creater of the creatures in this land but then one mistake made him evil and made his monsters turn against Pangu... Hmm...

    I think I can answer this one. Taoism is the one that is actually founded in China that still alive now, Budda is more Indian based. To be completely honest I think that most chinese people unconsciously worship taoist deity than the buddist one. Since the taoist deity is chinese, it adds more chinese in the story than budda.

    I have no idea why they added elf though, unless they are meant to be the decendants of immortals?(if that's the case it's hardly even related)

    It really does need more chinese stuff in there. But most chinese stuff is as you know spirit based, and venos pretty much covered that. Besides the occasional ghosts and foxes, there isn't much consistancy in the lore.

    Conclusion: It is hard to make new races

    Except that that's a European dragon man. Chinese dragons are nothing like that, and it's pretty rare for them to let a human ride on 'em. Very proud race. I do full heartedly agree that this could SO use a larger dose of Chinese folklore!

    Yeah, you're right about that one. Thanks for the comment. You know? Maybe the "Cleric" or "Wizard" class could be renamed to "Taoist Priest", it would be more fitting for a chinese-culture game. After all, they kick demon **** in a lot of tales, and even in one of them get a "Spiritual Arrow attack".

    That's what I said: What are elves doing in a chinese world? And the guys in a very distinctive european medieval armor? Why don't use the cool chinese weapons out there? Like the ChuI or the "Meteor Hammer"?

    Yeah, it's hard to make new races, but there are lots of sources to check on... After all, they haven't said if the main "Perfect World" is material, spiritual, or in some kind of "limbo" beneath the two, so it could be possible to include more ghosts.


    PS: I hope they would include more chinese content in Ether Saga or ZHu Xian. After all, that's why I was looking forward to these games.

    I really think they should also add the 8 immortals of taoism. And as some one else said (sorry I forgot your name), add more Chinese weapons. Flying darts, tiger hook swords, deer antler daggers, throwing knives, horse tail whisks, the list is endless.

    P.S. For those that don't know, it may be written "Tao" but it pronounced "Dow"

    I think it is just the translation problem, the translators thought it is pretty much the samething thus used the word elf, winged elves is not THE elves in every other MMORPG you have seen such as night elf or blood elf in WoW, they are originally small and tiny creatures called 'Yao Jing' in chinese and not the size you see in game, they are small enugh to sit on human palm or shoulder flying arround like a little bird. I think the devs just enlarge em so you have an option to play unless u wanna fight an elephant with ant.

    according to the original story, the universe was once nothing but chaos and darkness and pangu was sleeping within it, and after a damn long 18000 yrs good dream, pangu woke up and was unhappy about the universe so he splited the universe with his arms and feet (err..something like this http://imgsrc.baidu.com/baike/pic/item/c71d0e3841e7c0e1b211c79c.jpg) and then there comes sky and earth. pangu afraid of the universe go back to what it was so he kept holding the sky, step the earth and made himself grown up 1 feet everyday so the sky and earth keeps spliting everyday. after 100k yrs, the world had became stable, and pangu was tall as hell, he was tired and torn out and soon dead, his last breath became the could, his raor became the thunder, his left eye became the sun, right eye gone moon, his body turned into mountains, blood became rivers and ociean, rain was his Sweat, plowland was his muscle etc, so originally pangu didnt create creatures, Nv Wo did(who is another goddess), but that is another story.

    btw, jade emperor never showed up in pangu's story, he is the father god in taoism's mythology.

    so dont get too serious, the dev has changed mythology.
