Newbie ?s need help =/

Hey :] I'm new to PW, but not to MMOs (Played Eternal Lands for 2 years and Shaiya for half a yr x.x)
I just have some general questions and would appreciate some help :]

-What's the diff. between a guild and a faction? It seems like the same thing but have seen both terms used
-Are the beginning manufacturing, tailoring, etc. quests necessary?
-How long does it take for iron ore, cooper, etc. to respawn? seems like it takes a bit x.x
-Are there any lvl limited pvp areas? Like where there's a highest set lvl allowed(Arena or maps)
-For Venomancers, is there a way to call you pet back w/o going to the tamer when it dissapears? Also, how do you get food for your pet?

Thanks :D I'll edit the list when I have more :D thanks to anyone w/ answers in advance. I tried not to ask ?s with answers I have found on the forums already, but I can't seem to find an answer to these 3 :o

    welcome to a great game.
    A guild and a faction are the same thing really.
    Manufacturing is not really necessary but handy. i have made some good armor and it just adds something to the game too. Collecting materials is fun too. I think Apothecary is quite necessary for some very useful potions.
    Dont wait for materials to respawn it does take a long time. Just do other quests and you find your materials in your travells. You will learn to keep a sharp eye out as you travell around and often you will come accross patches of herbs.
    One thing to know about herbs is if you find one type...like Sylvia Root there will be others nearby. The most usefull herb I think is Necta so always get that if you see it.
    Not sure about pvp because I never use it.

    Mats respawn over 10-20 minutes, generally.
    There are no lvl limited pvp areas because the entire WORLD is the PvP map. Seeing as you're on Lost City, you'll be able to attack and be attacked by anyone at lvl 30.
    For the pets, press P. Call and stow summon and unsummon your pet. Also experiment with the buttons on the Pet Command bar to learn about them. Food can be bought in the Pet Skill Trainer's trade list.

    Start the game and log in to your account and click on the "create" button.

    Another quick ?... how do I learn skills?=/ had the skill tree up but pressing the icons didn't work =/

    To learn skills, go to the NPC named after your class in the bigger towns.
    To join a guild, get someone to invite you (this person has to be an executor, marshal or leader).
