Naming your pet

This started as a warning but turned into a pet naming guide since I couldn't really find a complete one elsewhere. Enjoy


First of all, what will it look like when your done. It will be in the format of...

<myname>'s <petname>

So if your name is Blackbeard and your pets name is changed to Spot, the overhead nametag displayed in the game is

Blackbeard's Spot

For roleplayers and other picky people this might be an important thing to consider.

Now for the procedure:

To change your pets name, talk to either of the two zoologists in Archosaur,

This npc is underwater in the harbor which is handy cuz going underwater forces your pet to go into storage. It's also necessary because if your going to train your pet it has to be OUT of storage so one zoologist has to be underwater to train underwater pets, but that dosent have much to do with renaming your pet.

She's above ground by a pavilion in the SE corner of Archosaur. This means you'll have to store your pet manually before starting the renaming procedure.

Speak to the NPC and under the category of Pet Items buy the Pet Collar for 10,000

Talk to the zoologist again and select Rename Pet.

This will popup your pet bag window, and another popup window for renaming your pet. The rename window will prolly be underneath the pet bag window so dont panic if you dont see it, just move the pet bag window to the side to expose it.

Put the picture icon of the pet to be named into the slot on the pet rename window. Then type in your pet's new name and hit the ok button.
