Archers role in TW's?

Ok, I am about to start an archer and I was curious as to what an archers main purpose in TW's are. The reason I am curious about there role is because I am trying to decide between the following stat builds:

A) 1 STR / 1 VIT / 3 DEX per level

OR

B) 2 STR / 1 VIT / 7 DEX ever 2 levels

Oh and one more question: Which weapon is best for an archer?

A) Bow
B) Crossbow
c) Slingshot

    I can't answer your first question but for the 2nd one I can tell you this.

    Crossbow - Best for long range but not good for shorter range
    Slingshot - Best for close range but not so good for long range
    Bow - Best for meele monsters who start away but will reach you

    crossbow - pvp
    bow - pvp / pve (more so pve)
    slingshot - 100% pve

    Go pure dex 1 str 4 dex.
