I was just wondering why it seems that when I attack a monster and it begins to hit me, my damage is cut in half. If this is just because of my level or something I'm doing wrong, please tell me. If it's a game mechanic... I'm quitting this game.

ranged weapons have a minimum distance on them, called "Min Effective Range" (sling 4.5 bow 5.0 xbow 5.5m?)if the monster is closer then that the damage is half, hence the use of frost, stun, knock back, and starting battles far away is important
monsters shouldnt really be nearing you, if they do then you have lightening strike and winged pledge to use on them

Now that you mention it... In other games, it's fairly easy for the ranged classes to throw some attacks, run, and then turn back and attack again until the mob dies. However, when I try to do the same here, if I use the keyboard to move, the camera angle turns ankward and doesn't let me see where I run... And if I use the mouse, the mob loses focus. Is there a better way to do this?

the mob just looses focus if you run too far away from its spawn, knockback arrow, frost arrow, and winged shell are the key to keeping distance and damage control

Kiting is not all that easy in PW. I remember, in WOW there was this Rabbit Hop technique which was a bread and butter kiting technique for hunters. When i started archer, i tried it once and realized that its not really feasible here.

Learn to use knockback at the right time, and the mobs won't touch you.

For high level mobs, starting with Frost Arrow, a few shots, then Knockback works well for mobs up to 4+ levels above you. Throw in a stun for an extra couple hit, and you're good :)

Against ranged mobs I use Winged shell -> Take aim -> normal attack -> knockback arrow -> normal arrows till it dies. To me this is a great way to kill mobs without take great amounts of damage and without losing mana points.
My people, some of them have run away to the hills
and have no shelter. No food, no one knows where they are,
hear me my chiefs, I am tired. My heart is sick and sad,
    I will fight no more....
