Hay is dropped pretty well from antelope pups, which can be found near silver pool southwest of archosaur, and fruit by Lofty Pterosaurs, found under neath heavens tear by silver pool, but the best place I've found is west of angler's village, which is north-north-east of archosaur.. Other monsters drop them, but I think those have pretty good chances out of them.0

I have gathered all the hay and the fruit and expanded my bag. I am a 47 veno, does anyone know who drops the fungus (need 100 of em ><).
As for the fruit and hay, Leolf is right, I also found that the Vipions near skull mountain (lvl 50) drop fruit fairly regularly, I got 12 in a couple of hours of leveling my air pet, good bonus I thought0 -
You won't really start getting fungus until level 70+ I've found.0

I saw the answer to this a couple weeks ago but can't remember it and can't find it:
If you use a pet cage from the cash shop, can you still complete the quests to add a slot? That is, do the hay, fruit, and fungus quests give you an extra slot? Or does the hay only give you a 3rd slot, the fruit a 4th slot, and the fungus a 5th slot? So if you use a cage from the cash shop to get your 3rd slot, the hay quest wouldn't work for you anymore?
Same question for bank space stones.0 -
the best option is to buy a pet-inventory stone from boutique, it's cheaper than buying/farming the hay/fruits and what ever it needsIGN: JusT_CooL

You can get grass from some of the turtles, but the drop rate is very low and it will take you longer time to farm there than to level up to 30 and go for the pups.
Yeh.. I got 30 hay from turtles, took forever and gained 4 lvl's out of it.. hehehehe, but now I need fruit, ugh. guess I just need to lvl and take it as it comes. Can we mail our alts stuff? Like if I get me lvl 20 cleric to get fruit can I mail them to me 14 ven?

Yes, that can be done - it takes an hour before the goods arrive. However, unsure on where a level 20 can find a good supply of fruit.0 -

If you use a pet cage before having done those quests, it effectively will skip the quest in succession and jump to the next. You cant even hold onto the quests to preserve them as you need to trash it to get a pet cage expansion/completion quest. If you're going to farm the mats yourself, hay & fruit are doable by the time you're 40-50. The fungus on the otherhand unless you wait till 70s, you'll need to buy, and at 3-5k a pop (usual heaven's tear Auction price) thats 300-500k for a pet expansion, meanwhile even using gold trading at auction for 120k per gold, a 2 gold cage is 240k. So unless you plan to farm the fungus yourself waiting till 70+ish, you might wanna skip it and grab the pet cage.0 -
Is there anyone willing to sell me dirt cheap fruit on Sanctuary?0

Hay you can gain from killing turtles by Broken village from levels 8-20ish.
The drop rate is random, bordering insanity.
But it gives you time to level up a nice turtle, and farm some serious cash. (rhino horns sell 800 a pop to vendor, and you'll have 100+ of those at least)
considering how much cash is needed for our pet upgrades down the road,
pretty sure this is working as intended.
Been finding random meat spawns all over doing arch quests, not sure if there is a quest, but have been keeping them anyhow.
The aardvarks (rhinos) around arch also rarely drop hay.
Cool thing about doing that turtle camp, is you're in the water, possibly leveling up a really good pet (or he will be), if you're flagged, no one would dare come after you in there with that pet, or he'll eat them alive, LOL.Oishasan

fruit, hay, fungus are getting extremely high profits (seen em 'round 10kish in Arch) on the player market currently.
You might find it easier to level up and get them yourself.
Is there a quest for meat though? been collecting it, wondering what it will be for.Oishasan

As far as I know there is no quest for meat. But I know some people are collecting it to feed to their herc, but i'm not quite sure about that.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I started gathering my fruit at level 38. I grinded on the Pterosaurs just above Angler's Village for 3-4 levels and in that time managed to gather all my 50 fruit (+ a few extra.)
I skipped the Fungus, however, and bought a Pet Cage after that. 100 Fungus is insane, imo.
edit: Although, for your level I'd suggest Vipions instead. They'll have a higher droprate for you, considering you're close to their level.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
hays dropped from a number of things, antelope pups, there are lv 8 turtles in the lake near dreaming stronghold, and the lv 9 highlands turtles drop it too, the rhinodrake megaliths right outside aourchour also drop hay. Fungus i was told only drops from lv 70 flying creatures which really sucks. Fruit im not sure about, i bought all i needed from the auction house, almost 250 pieces for 20k, i had used what i needed then put the rest back in auction house. Whats after fungus? ive got 17 but im wanting to know if itll be better to invest in a super cage.0
-
I'd say if you have the extra $14, go for the super cage. I have a lvl 27 veno and it's very nice being able to have pets just because you want them, plus the "standard" pets. Very much worth the money imo. I've blown more than $14 on stuff I got less use/enjoyment out of... lol0

Yes - there is no quest for meat.
However the herc will only eat the various meats (meat, fine meat, venison etc.) or the perfect cookies.
So it sells pretty well.
Though I admit, I've got to the point where I get enough meat-type drops from random monsters that I'm not buying any more, and have in fact been feeding venison to non-herc pets due to not wanting to have to many inventory slots taken up with different food types.0
