Re-Renaming Pets

Can a pet only be named once? Or can I rename it, cause I bought a pet off someone who had named it.

    wait, is it just that I can't make my pets name have a space in it?

    You can rename it. There's an 8 limit character limit and spaces count as one.

    I think it's 8 as well. It's definitely not 5, as I named a Snow Hare Furball. And I've never seen a pet with 12 letters, so I'm going with 8.

    for me, the big question of naming boils down to ....HOW?! i gather you have to have a collar for them to do so, am i correct? how and where do you get this collar? and *wince*, how much do they cost, and can they be transferred from one pet to another?

    Cost 10k, I think.

    Can be found at the zoologist (SE corner of Archo for ground pets, in the harbour underwater for underwater pets).

    You rename them there as well with the help of the NPC. Be a bit careful here, because the dialogue can show up "under" other windows. I had that problem and did not spot the change-name window the first time I tried doing it.

    Yes, 10k is correct.

    I have seen people in the City of Lost on my server (sanctuary) selling them for 20k..... I have to say I bought from them before I knew any better, then when I saw what Mrs. Zooologist charged for them I was a bit pissed. I understand making a profit to make it accesible to younger Veno's but damn, doubling the price is plain nasty.

    Oh, and i'm pretty sure my collars would only let me do 5 letters. I remember struggling with my fly's name... Vudoo instead of Voodoo.

    It's eight, I have a couple pets with that amount of characters in their name. For some reason the description states it has a 5 character limit.

    ...can you reuse a collar? like, say, you decide to switch it to another pet? or would you have to sink another $10k in another collar?

    Collar's are 1 use items. If you wish to name another pet or rename yours, thats another 10k.

    Also the pet name limit is 8, even thought the description lies to you and says 5. Not the first time in-game information has lied.
