the golem question

hi,
i'm a level 32 veno who so far refused to get a golem but since i have the extra pet slot now i want to get myself one

i am aware of the golem stat debate which always circles around the level 17 and 18 golems (with negligible stat differences)

i am also aware that either one of the two get better stats than the level 32 golem

i am however also aware that the level 32 golem is faster than the other two golems...

here are my questions:

- isn't the added speed worth something??? (does anyone have experience whether its wortyh going for the level 32 because of this?)

- what skills does the level 32 golem come with?
i have not even traveled to its spawning location yet so i'm cluesless and hoped somebody here would know

what do u mean about speed? running speed?
if so, that doesn't matter to much since u won't use it in pvp, normal mobs are usually slow and they won't be a problem

The level 32 golems come with the same skills as the level 18.... only higher level.

It actually has a higher attack than either the lvl 17 or 18 golems because of a higher level bash skill, but slightly less defense.... IMO it's actually a better option unless you intend to spend money to upgrade skills.

And who says he wont use it for PvP???? Maybe not TW worthy, but for a little random PKing or for duels I don't really see why not????

imo, unless you plan on spending money on the low lvl pets and lvling their skills. just tame one at higher lvls. but either way. eventually you will have the same problem. the lvl 32s attack will still be lackin against the higher lvl mobs. so, imo, I prefer to spend the money making a decent pet from the low lvl ones.

and running speed wont make much of a difference. what matters is if your golem can maintain aggro and take hits he needs to.

for playing around golem is okay for pvp, but for serious pvp golem is useless.

i'm not really big on pvp but i leveled teh sawfly from when i got it anyway as the pets level so much faster than the character...

so no the golem won't be for pvp

i asked the question mainly for when the golem looses agro
i'm somewhat worried that the golem is to slow to catch up with the mob to regain it...
i am very fragile as i am a damage oriented veno

so far i use my sharptooth wolfling which is really great at holding aggro - i would like to heal less frequently (--> golem) but i want soemthing that will keep the mobs focused at all times

A leveled golem should(in theory) hold aggro better than your wolf because it has a higher attack...... however you being a pure damage Veno, one ironwood scarab and you're going to steal aggro no matter how good the pet..... that's why it's a good idea to invest atleast a little into Vit and P-Def.... gives you a chance to escape.

My strategy for a robe build works like this

30 base Vit(gives you around 350 extra HP to work with and a higher HP recovery rate.... not so high that it nerfs your magic attack or m-resists by too much)

Wear +p-def necklace, and +p-def belt
All armor sockets filled with garnets(for extra p-def)
All armor pieces also have some blue +p-def bonuses
A few armor and jewelry pieces have blue +Vit bonuses.

I can always take multiple aggro and escape with my life intact, and in many instances i'm even able to kill multiple attackers.... I can actually tank a little even without a pet.... I've done all my water quests with no pet at all.

More HP than a pure Mag build
More p-def than a pure Mag build
Nearly as much M-resist as a pure Mag build
Nearly as much damage as a pure Mag build
More damage than a light build
More HP than a light build
More M-resist than a light build
Nearly as much p-def as a light build

    it just works(atleast for me)

Either golem is fine, the differences are a small infraction and need not worry about. A golem is your tank and can hold aggro fine. As you level, level the pet skills (especially bash on the golem). If you are worried about losing aggro, then I suggest you add "roar" to your pet, this is a skill for the pet to get aggro back; after you roar, wait a few seconds then cast again.

I also have a wolf from when I was level 19, and it's now level 78. I can tell you from watching the stats as it leveled, that pet speed also increases. I've compared the stats on my wolf to a kowlins (rare pet) stats of a level 84 kowlin, and my wolf is actually stronger than it is. So why pay 2 mil for it?

Good luck, and I hope I helped

is your wolf faster than kowlin? that'd be the coolest discovery ever, cus kowlin is used purely for its speed

There is a zoologist in Archosaur that sells the scrolls for around 200k.
If the best defense is a good offense, why did I even show up?

If a train is going east at 50 mph and another train is going west at 90 mph, where do they...Never gonna give you up~ Never gonna let you down~Never gonna run around~and hurt you~

If you've got this far, you've been rick-rolled.

Like the above poster said, you have to go to the zoologist south east of arco to buy the skill scrolls before it becomes available in the 'pet skill' window.

each new skill is 300k+ and each skill upgrade is 200k.
