cursing in game

ok I cursed in game today to get people to join this guild im in, it was completely funny and such and I got a lot of members cuz of it it was funny, but a player by the name of Amberlight says he is gonna get me banned cuz his 6 year old girl plays this game and he doesnt want that kind of language used around her.


I mean who lets there 6 year old girl play this kind of game, and it wasnt like I was curing at anyone I just said "Recruiting new meat for Ruptured pm me for invite." and after that and getting no pms I jokingly said "Cmon ******* ask to join" immediatly the pm's flowed in asking to join which was hilarious.

so am I gonna be banned now?

    Not being an employee of or for Perfect World Entertainment I cannot say for certain, but ..... In most cases they would warn you almost immediately to tone down the language and only if you failed to comply take more serious action.

    Account banning is not the first Discipline option in any but the most severe of cases, and you are still able to post here in forum, I would consider that a good sign.


    However, I would also STRONGLY suggest that you not try that again because there are a good many people that do not consider cursing a joke.
    Perhaps the greatest secret to getting along with others lies in learning to respect their opinion(s) even while you disagree with them.

    You'll get no sympathy from me.... those curse filters are there for a reason and you chose to get around the filter by using a period, and in world chat no less..... then you come here and admit it.... How dumb is that?!?!

    You deserve whatever punishment they give you, though I doubt there will be any.

    I'm 32 and I don't care to see that kind of **** either, not so much that it offends me, but it does speak volumes about your lack of intelligence.

    but anyways im just making it clear I wasnt cursing at anyone in paticular wasnt starting a fight wasnt doing anything that I would consider bannable. Im not gonna hide what I did cuz I dont feel it was really that bad if the GM's feel it was bad they can mute me or ban my account for however long they like I just wanna know whats gonna happen to me :<

    If nothing has happened by now I doubt that anything will happen, but if something were to happen I think it would more than likely just be a warning, a 1 or 2 day ban, or being muted in chat for a day or two. They're not gonna perma-ban your account for cursing(even if it was directed at someone)

    To begin with, nobody able to answer that question is gonna post it on the forum, as they generally like to keep things private (this is for the player's protection and privacy).

    Second, if you would like to know what actions are 'possible' read http://support.perfectworld.com/violation .

    Third and finally, you knew it was wrong when you did it, you chose to do it anyway, your intent is NOT the issue here. My best advice is to be gratefull that serious action was not taken this time and avoid repeating it.

    it has nothing to do with maturity in the guild we joke around a lot and it was clearly a joke, and I think the many people who asked to join know it was otherwise they wouldent want in we love to have fun and take people of any level so your welcome to join yourself if you want to pm RiceCake in game.

    From the Terms of Service :
    You agree not to take any of the following actions:
    a) Harm minors in any way;
    ...
    h) Impede or disrupt the Service or the normal flow of game play or dialogue in the game or in Interactive Areas on the Site or use vulgar language, abusiveness, use of excessive shouting (ALL CAPS) "spamming" or any other disruptive or detrimental methods in an attempt to disturb other users or PWE employees;

    In short, can the profanity. PWE reserves the right to take any action it wishes regarding a user's account. The policy, as far as I can tell, does not involve a permanent ban for a single use of profanity, but if you start to disrupt the enjoyment of other players through vulgar dialogue...

    Well, let's just say don't do it.

    Agreed, in general. However on an issue like this only the GM's or MOD's could give you a definite answer and 'they' like to handle disiplinary actions in private.

    he ruined 1 persons day (whos kid is breaking the TOS by having an account) as did the person that threatened to try to get him banned.

    if its NOT filtered in game then who cares? Now to the Player who has a 6 year old Kid playing the game this IS a MATURE rated game if ESRB were to rate or ATLEAST a T- For TEEN. In Other words Knock it off and play the game. You dont like the language PLAY another game. Dont report someone for doing something you yerself do at home around her anyways.

    Because it's a well known fact that swear filters don't work and people circumvent them anyway? And considering that foul language isn't allowed by the rules as pointed out above... why again would people who prefer a halfway mature environment need to play another game? I guess it's the other way around: If you don't like the rules, maybe it's _you_ who needs to find another game...

    a rule is a rule, so I will not gonna argue it.

    But in reality, I bet that any kids should already heard harsh languages regardless of any kind of protections the parents have put (total isolation doesn't count). So, my suggestion is having the filter on the receiving part, instead of on the sender.

    If I see any vulgor bypassing filter words I automaticly screenshot it and send it in.

    Thats what their TOS states to do.So thats what i do.
