Your blacksmith level determines what level weapons you can make ... with level 1 you can only make level 2 weapons. Which would be useless to you at this point.
Upgrading it to level 2 will let you make weapon levels 3 and 4. Upgrading to 3 will let you make weapon levels 5 and 6 ... So if you want to make your own weapons, you have to keep upgrading the skill.
And yes, you can't make every level weapon in every city. In general though, your level determines where you are (assuming you're following the quests), and the Blacksmith there will allow you craft weapons appropriate to your level.0 -
You sound like a WOW player where you can just have one manufacturing skill. Here you can have all of them.
The Apophegy/herbalist is very useful and uses none of the materials you will use for weapons.
Make sure you always stop and collect materials...iron...coal...wood ect. because you will need these. Also you will begin to know what monsters drop what so kill them for materials...eg....the skeletons often drop cotton which is used by the tailor to make armor.
I use the Taylor more than the blacksmith because there is more you can make but I guess it is up to each what they like to make.
Dont forget...always pick up materials0 -
For me, till now, all my crafting skills are a lvl 1, and all of them (except Apo) is at 0%...
Usually I made some pots (the one for HP and the one for MP) only. Other than that, I seldom make... If I really need make weapon or armor, perhaps will get friend, or even guild help on it... Sometimes I rather sell those material rather than making them...0 -
i have some other skills.. i just havent leveled any of them.0

yes, I have just concentrated on leveling my herbalist and tailor so far because I find these more useful. Cant see how I can make a weapon as near as good as the quest weapons.
I think it adds to the game making things rather than just selling the materials.....you never know what you might get.0
