I am interested in making an AOE solo character. What should I get? Is Barbarian the best choice? And is AOE even good in this game? Since there are many skills that have recharge times.

I'm not really sure of that myself' venos are good solo classes at higher lvls, but really no aoes I know of.. I've only really played a decent amount as an archer, seems to be a good class for me =P good aoes, good damage, pretty good skill set.... but that's just my opinion.

Hey ma, I'm with you all the way, archers rock in this game. But overall, PW AOE I guess is a little less than what might be desired.

I would say an Axe BM Con build. They have a pretty nice AoE, and 3 of them for that matter. BM's also have an AoE stun, so you can Aoe, Stun, repeat.
    Back.

    Cleric.

Pull 20 Poison wood mobs, kill them in 2 hits with Tempest + Razor Feather

    Axe warrior hands down.

WB : only 1 AOE human form and 1 AOE tiger form
EP : 2 strong AOEs but can't obviously pull for themselves / tank the pull

    Barbarians/Bms aoe melee mobs.
Clerics aoe magic wood mobs, they can tank/pull them fine.

I can aoe some wood mobs too as a veno, though definitely burn some more charms. Purify is haxb:cry

as for personal experience I'd say Axe blademaster. st timer warrior still manage to be lvl 81 have some extra characters over 40 and i had at least month and a half out fo the game so far. Plus i laze a lot. Solo AoE= fastest leveling ingame if done with the right gear plus blessing (+30%dmg) is just insane. making 23%+ an hour at lvl 7X is just b:shocked

Solo AoE probably Clerics, if you can get a small group going then BM are awesome for AoE if you can time the stuns right.

So, I guess I could make a BM with enough STR/DEX for a weapon, and then rest into STA. But how about Cleric if I wanted to? What build do they need for wood mob AOE? How many magic wood mobs could I do this to? Are there enough to lvl well or are there shortages of wood mobs at certain lvls? What Armor should I get for the cleric? Which one of the two can AOE at lower lvl?

Really? When I last played. There was a single axe that took two hands to hold.

That would be the pole axe, which is utterly useless for AoEing. Because when you AoE you are going to be spamming skills, thus the attack speed on the pole axe is irrelevent and so the lower damage will severely limit your ability to kill the enemies.
