New FA cleric - question
So I started a new full attack cleric, based on the guide stickied here at the top (had to google it since the links are broke -_-) and I have some questions thus far. Some relating to the FA cleric, and one just in general.
1) Arcane Armor seems to suck hardcore....does this get better? I got the +p.def blessing at level 2 right now, its as high as i can train it, and I only have like 130 p.def, mobs take 1/6 or so of my hp per hit.
2) Damage....ive been doing 5MAG per level, until I need str for my armor. I have the HP of a wet paper bag....should I put some into VIT? My damage (which the guide said would be comparable to archer) is no where near an archer. I solo next to archers dropping the same mobs im hunting in half the time. takes me 4 spells. Does it get better?
3) Interrupts. How does this work? Just a random chance? I've been interrupted like 10 times in a row.
I was really enjoying this character, but its starting to get worse instead of better. Im dying quicker, and I dont really see a PVP future at all. Should I just reroll an archer? -_-
edit* forgot the general question
I came here from rappelz/rohan because i heard this was a more group oriented game, with solo content as well, similar to WoW. When can I start doing group content? I found a teleporter in stronghold of the dreaming that had "enter instance" but my friend and i tried to click it and nothing happened.

FA means full attack.
full attack means full mag build, that is, 1 str 9 mag per 2 levels.
yes your pdef will always suck, even at maxed vanguard.
no, don't ever get any vit, the hp bonus from it is tiny, instead, get hp shards, and refine your armor later on.
the point of a fa cleric is to kill everything before it can get to you.
if you can survive, say 3-4 hits from a monster, you'll be fine.
furthermore, it shouldn't take you more than 3-4 hits to kill anything your level.
if you're having trouble, precast one or two ironhearts on yourself, then plume/cyclone away.
EDIT: ps, you should be killing much faster than an archer. or at least, the same speed, unless the archer is spamming skills. in which case, their skills cost almost as much as yours, yet they have about 1/4 the mp, and no mag, so no mp regen for them. don't worry about that.
EDIT 2: getting interrupted while spell casting seems to be somewhere at a 20% chance every time that you're hit. given that most monsters don't have an aspd above 0.6 atks/sec, and your plume takes 1.5 channelling time, just hold down the button, you should be fine.
EDIT 3: sadly, pw isn't very group oriented at all. the only time groups get together, other than on the fly groups for questing, is for fbs (call to duty dungeons, those are the main dungeons of the game), hard bosses (usually to raise cultivation, or to farm a mold, or tt bosses for mats). you won't get into that until, say 40+
EDIT 4: oh also, clerics are one of the best (if not best) pvpers in the game (at least one on one duels >.>). you'll get many nifty skills later on, like your sweet seals, and the ridiculous tempest. i've never died leveling as a cleric, unless i got mobbed by 3 or more things.
remember, if you're in trouble, do a double jump, and fly away0 -
I have a good question.. what lvl are u
im guessing u must be around lvl 40 in which case so long as your weapon is in one piece u should be doing more dammage than an archer of the same lvl.
Even i can do my share of dammage and im a FS cleric...
I have seen a lvl 42 cleric do between 3.5k and 6.5k(when crit) dmg and they use mainly MAg just like u
I shall admit that my 1.2k of dmg dosnt kill fast but i can still solo creeps if i use plume shell and iron heart blessing (although it uses alot of mana)
Also if the archer buys from cash shop they may have just tscked up on MP potions and spamming spells ^^So for my bad spelling ^^
CUTE THINGS ><
Dieing with style and skill since 1989

it's like that in the beginning for a FA cleric. You will start to shine at 60+ once you are able to level your debuffs to a decent level.0

I've played both an Archer and (now) an Attack Cleric to level 29
I can tell you that I find the Attack Cleric is much easier to solo. As mentioned above - an Archer CAN mow down a mob fast if spamming skills. But then after one mob you're out of MP! Unless you're going through MP pots like crazy, you have to use normal shots ... and then you're about equal.
What really makes the FAC so much easier though is we can heal ourselves! Kill a mob, cast an Ironheart, move on to the next mob ... as an Archer, I could only survive by living on Life Powder. As a FAC, I only use Life Powder for the real nasty (boss type) creatures.
As an Archer, getting two mobs on you means it's time to run. As a FAC, stack a few Ironhearts, then start alternating an attack and Ironheart, and you're fine. If I'm caught off guard by a second mob (and don't start the Ironhearts quick enough) then I'm in trouble - but otherwise it's no problem.0 -
EDIT 3: sadly, pw isn't very group oriented at all. the only time groups get together, other than on the fly groups for questing, is for fbs (call to duty dungeons, those are the main dungeons of the game), hard bosses (usually to raise cultivation, or to farm a mold, or tt bosses for mats).
well that pretty much settles it for me then thanks very much. any tips on an mmo out there thats actually group based? no point in continuing here.0 -
i didn't mean to turn you away from this game >.>
but sadly, that has been my experience so far, even as a support cleric.
the only groups i've really been in are guild groups, so if you're lucky enough to find a good guild, you might have fun.
why do i still play?
i enjoy the scenery =P and, you don't hvae to group with someone to chat with them, keep that in mind. a lot of people are very social inside their guilds, etc.0
