Try pressing "W" when trying to log in. Don't ask me why but it does work for some people.

You got any other programs apart from Firewall? Like Antivirus, Peerguardian etc. Make sure they allow you to connect to port 29,000.

What kind of connection do you have? Can you configure your router to allow port 29,000?

You got any things such as microwaves or cordless phones near your router?

Also can you contact your ISP and ask them to priorise port 29,000? Sometimes they leave that port at the end of a very long line which can give problems.

After i patched, which needless to say took a little less then a 13 hours, i logged in, chose a character to play, clicked 'Enter' and waited... and i sat there and watched it say:

"Now Entering Perfect World...please be patient..."

so i waited, after about an hour of nothing happening, a message popped up saying i got disconnected from the server. Sooo, i reloged, chose a different character this time... and the same thing happened.

Next, thinking those characters got bugged... i tried making a new character, spent some time with that, and when i was done i tried clicking 'Enter' ... and it let me in instantly after the loading screen... no message or nothing. I was able to play but by that time it was already so late, that i needed to sleep. So the next day, i got on, logged into that new character, and i was able to play perfectly.... several hours later, my roommate was telling me that he was having the same issue, but thought it was just lag. So i logged out and let him use my computer to log in... but it wouldn't let him in either, and it showed the same "please be patient" message... After he left, i tried logging back in on that new character and i got that "please be patient" message.... and it wouldn't let me log in at all... so i gave up for the night, went to bed.. woke up this morning and tried logging in... still getting the same "please be patient" message...

Now im here looking through the forums for an answer... why was i able to play, then suddenly NOT able to play... can't be any other programs blocking me if it let me play once before for several hours.

Could it be something with your ISP?

It was perfectly fine yesturday when we were playing... both me and my roomate were playing just fine till we logged out. When we try logging back in, we get that same "please be patient" message. The screen remains black, but we can hear the environment sounds, ie: music, monsters, other players, npc's .. etc.

That is weird. Are you all connected wirelessly, or wired?

Are you on a university connection? Sharing it with anyone else?

For networking issues, please review this thread:

Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Im connected wirelessly, were as my roomate is connected directly through the router via ethernet cable. Im no more then 20 feet from said router. We are set up in house, and its only us two that are currently connected.

But give me a minute to read through that thread to see if there is any information you have there that can help me out... i'll post again here in a minute or two to let you know if it helped or not.

The things listed there will take some good time to go through and try out.

Just take your time with them, and try to figure things out. You may need to call your ISP and ask what is going on.

You can also see if your security/firewall/antivirus software has recently updated and changed settings on you.

Ok, I might not be seeing something I really should, but I made an account and everything but I don't get where you gotta go to make a character, and to even start the game, I'd really like to get going, so if someone can please explain to me where to go and what to do, I'd really appreciate it, I'm more skilled with a joystick, not a hard drive

Surtr has an excellent installation guide.

Assuming you want to use the Direct Download path :

    1. The link on our webpage itself gives you the Perfect_World_Downloader_v3.exe file. It's a small (~1.0 megabyte) download.

    2. The Perfect_World_Downloader_v3.exe program will download the Perfect_World_International.exe file. By default, it downloads it to My Documents/Downloads/ (XP) or Documents/Downloads (Vista). This .exe file is the large download, roughly 2.378 gigabytes.

    3. Perfect_World_International.exe, when run, extracts a lot of installation files into a folder. By default, it extracts them into the same folder it is sitting in, the (My) Documents/Downloads. One of the files it extracts will be called install.exe

    4. Running install.exe will give you the option of verifying the client download, installing the client itself, and putting a shortcut icon down on the desktop.

    5. Double-click the shortcut icon to patch the game, or use the manual patcher.

If you prefer, this is a torrent available, which works excellently with uTorrent, and will get you to the start of step 3.

Once you've done that, bring up the Launcher with the desktop icon. Use the Launcher's setting button to increase your resolution to at least 800x600. After that's done, hit the Start button on the Launcher to bring up the ElementClient.

From the client, you'll want to hit the "Next" button to close the Notice window, and if you have not done so already, select a server. Then put in your username and password, and hit start.

That'll bring you to the character selection/creation screen. Mine goes to the Untamed area and has a Barbarian because I've already played one, but yours will likely have an empty vista of Etherblade or the City of Plume. Yours also won't have a red arrow pointing to the Create Character button, although I wish it did. Click that button.

In the resulting screen, you'll want to set a name, select your species, gender, and class, and even customize your appearance. Continue past that to get your character in-game.
