Refining.... am I missing something????

Every time I try to refine an equip it gives me the message "action failed - unable to refine"
I have the required amount of mirrage stones and the equips I'm trying to refine are manufactured.... not the quest items that say "cannot be refined" at the bottom, what gives??? what am I doing wrong????

    The Elder.... so far tried Lost city elder and archosaur elder, same results at both

    So you just unequip your equipment, have atleast 1 mirage stone in inventory for armor, 2 for weapon and drag the equipment into the top box and click refine.

    Yeah.... and it tells me "action failed - unable to refine", doesn't eat my stones, doesn't do anything to my weapon, just gives me that message

    Ok, I now have pretty good reason to believe that I'm under the effect of some kind of bug.

    Gave the wep and the 2 mirrage stones to a friend and presto changeo, refined +1.......

    The friend who refined it for me is lower level than I am, and my blacksmithing skills are leveled higher than his, so it couldn't be that I was off on any level requirements.

    Is anyone else having this problem not being able to refine???? I'm 99.9% sure this is a bug and not anything I was doing wrong.

    I also have tried refining lvl 37 3* dual axes I manufactured myself. So far I've wasted 8 mirage stones and haven't even got +1. I just assumed that since I wasn't using cash shop items there was only a low chance of actually refining it. Is refining +1 supposed to be 100% or is it just random chance?

    No no, you misunderstand, there is supposed to be a failure rate on refining and it will eat your stones.

    But in my case it's not even eating my stones, it doesn't do anything at all.

    In your case 4 failed attempts in a row does sound sorta high, yours is most likey just being caused by hard luck though.

    Thank you for clarifying that. I figured it was just my luck. Where luck is involved, I'm always on the bad side lol.

    I have a question about refining as well. I just used 2 Mirage stones on my armor, both said successful, I have a +2 armor now BUT my stats on my armor are the same as the one I can go buy at the tailor. The stats never increased at all!!? I had a + evasion on my armor and +HP and both of those didn't go up at all either? What's the point of refining being successful if you don't gain anything from it. I mean I just wasted 2 Mirage stones even though I was succesfful at refining.......

    I saw somewhere the bonus from refining, but now i lost it. Eitherway, the bonuses wont show up on the item description.
    Weird thing is that my pants gave +8 mag, and i refined it to +2, and still giving +8 mag. If im not mistaken, this place i checked said the special bonuses would double if the item was +2. *shrugs*
    Maybe refining isnt working at all?

    Refining your armor gives it an HP bonus.
    Magic weapons will increase in magic attack.
    Phys. weapons in strength.
    Phys. pendents/necklaces in defense.
    Magic pendents/necklaces/rings will get a 5 elemental bonus.

    I can't say for might and evasion equips.

    refining gives your item a +1 on it.
    at the top where it names what the item is it will now have a +1 or +2 ect. ect.
    this is the added bonus to refining. Your item will do more damage or give more defense depending on what the item is. Your stats do not change. that is what the soulgems are for. to add stats to the sockets.
    refining adds +'s to the item
