walking to the same spot again and again

When I click to walk somewhere, or use WASD, my character walks to the spot, but then I end up where I was before I moved and my character tries to walk where I clicked again, but I end up where I was before. It's like a loop, I walk and walk but I always end up where I started. Do you know how to fix this? I basically can't walk...

You are stuck then. Have you tried sending the "I'm stuck" message to the GM's? Just press on system ingame then go to the box called GM. It may take them a while to answer you so you have to be patient.0

Using the Town Teleport power may help, if it's a Stuck situation, although unless you're in a time-sensitive situation, we ask that you use the GM button so we can get coordinate data.
If that's been a constant issue while you're playing, it sounds more like dropped or lost packets. It's most commonly an issue with wireless networks stretched a 'bit' too far, or passing too close to other 2.4 GHz devices like microwaves or some cordless phones.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I just used the teleport to town spell, but it's doing the same thing in town too, so I guess it's a constant issue. I don't use wireless... So what do I do?
It's also worth mentioning that everything in the game moves jerkily, like it's on fast-motion. For instance, a monster will go from point A to B very fast and jerkily, then go back to moving normally, at random moments.0 -
Got a phone, microwave or other things like that near your computer and/or router? If so try moving them away a bit.0

Is anyone on your network running 'noisy' programs, like peer-to-peer filesharing? What's your network connection type and bandwidth? Can you copy us the text of a tracert pwigc3.perfectworld.com command?
In Windows XP, go to Start->Run..., enter "cmd" in the white box and press enter, then type "tracert pwigc3.perfectworld.com" (without the quotes). To copy the result, right click in the black space of the command prompt, click Select All, and then press Enter on your keyboard. Come back here, open a Reply, and press CTRL and V simultaneously.
In Windows Vista, it's mostly the same, but instead type cmd into the Start Search box to start.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I don't own a microwave. The only thing that's wireless in my house is my phone, but it's not near my computer.
I use dial-up with a cable modem, its capped at 900 kb/s. This is the only computer connected to internet in my house but I live in an apartment so I dont know about the neighbours.0 -
For some reason the forum won't display the tracert when I post it -.- grrr
I made a picture of it

By "dial-up with a cable modem", I assume you mean you've got a situation where you have a seperate, physical modem attached to coaxial cable (usually RG-6), but getting to the itnernet requires you use a special program?
Interesting results.
EDIT: your ping looks fine, which makes the matter doubly odd. You may want to contact your ISP and see if they're throttling port 29000 traffic, or at least report the behavior you're seeing. It may be related to their implementation of 'logging in' -- I've seen more than my share of improperly implemented PPP.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Yes it's a physical modem with a coaxial cable plugged in it. It's plugged to the computer with a USB cable, I had to install a driver, and after that the internet always works as long as the USB cable is plugged in.
I'm lucky if my ISP even makes my internet work. It's completely impossible to talk to anyone competent there. But it's the best ISP where I live, so..
So, anything I can do or is it pretty much lost cause?0 -
You could try sending in a ticket.

Maybe they can help you better.0 -
USB cable

Good <insert diety here>. That's almost certainly your issue, and it examples why your tracert looked better than I would have expected. USB connections use the CPU for control and processing power and even monitoring. That keeps the prices down, but at the cost of horribly bad performance. In most cases that's acceptable. Network connections are not really one of them.
Do you have the option of an ethernet connection?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Do you have the option of an ethernet connection?
I'll try to install it with the ethernet cable..0 -
Yes. The problem was that my internet wasn't working, and the ISP technitians couldn't fix my it, and they blamed me for having faulty ethernet cables( I have two cables and according to them both are faulty, I doubt that's true) and wouldn't give me any more service. They suggested to me that I use the USB cable since my ethernet cables didn't seem to work. So I bought the USB cable and installed the driver, and the internet worked, so I just used that.
I'll try to install it with the ethernet cable..
I hope it works. Any more help needed come back here.0 -
This is the strangest thing. This morning I decided to try the game again to see if the problem was still there. And it's gone! Things don't move jerkily anymore, and my character can walk around normally :-D !0

I was having that same problem and it turned out to be an issue with runnind a dual or quad core.
I searched the forums for similur probs and found out how to adjust the setting to work with a dual core and it has been great since.0
