Zen dependancy in the game

Considering I have no money by my own to invest, I got a question and I wish for an honest answer.

How much Zen does improve your gaming experience, strength, speed - basically, performance?

I'm wondering should I download the game. But I wouldn't want to notice like in 10 other "free" Mmorpg's that people buy their way to victory.

So, any honest opinions on this topic? I would really appreciate those.

This game is the least dependant on the cash shop for advancement that I've seen, so far. The charms help, but are not necessary. Not like rapplez, that game demanded cash shop stuff.

Oh yes, and I could almost forgot. I know no in-game words so if you could please be more thorough in your speech so I may understand . :)

Up to lv 60, you can manage without Zen and if you cant be bothered with buying storage en inventory expantions.

HP and MP pots reach max "size"at 60 and thereafter regenerating hp and mp from those starts to be a pain.
Upgrading items over 3/4 fails so often that you wont try without cash shop items in the mix.

PW is a VERY expensive MMO. maybe next to Entropia Universe the most expensive online game i ever played. But costs can be saved by being a smart merchant, and buy your Zen via the auctioneers.

I guess the greatest trick here is not to let yourself be drawn into a quick fix, and buy all you need, over actualy getting enjoyment out of getting stuff the hard way.

So yes, i guess you can buy your way to victory in PWI but wouldnt it feel like "Ye Olde Game trainers" that give you a zillion gold and every item in game at the press of a button?

I play games for a personal sence of acomplishment, that i wont have if i spend more then 15 Euros (20$) a month, and i wont lose knowing someone else got the same by spending 100's of Dollars in 1/10 the time.

Like.. Max speed flying Mounts.... Cost over 100 dollars. Well.. Not in a 100 thousand years.

    Hope this helps :)

yeah gotta agree with the above poster..below lvl 60 its not really necessary except the occasional inventory/bank extension and perhaps pet cage (venos)
But once you hit 60 then it becomes inevitable that you will need to use a charm to do bosses etc and angels to protect that hard earned experience
it comes down to personal choice..are you playing for the fun and friendship or to be max lvl in as short a space as possible
If you want to gain exp fast and not lose exp in the process?..then its gonna cost you.
Do you want acool looking pet to ride around on? ...gonna cost you
Wanna get married ingame?...gonna cost you
Wanna play for a few hours and chill....free :)

the cash shop price on this game is kinda sick compared to other mmo's

    fashion costs alot of cash
mounts also cost a freakng but load of cash compared to any other MMO aswell

u can easily play this game without the cash shop as i did in PW-MY, instead i just bought a few fashion from the auction house and things like hp/mp charms which regen ur mp/hp bak to full from players stalls which also cost alot of ingame gold.

without the CS i gota admit this game is very boring if ur like level 60+
all GM made events seem to also be Cash Shop depending like the halloween, *must buy dolls from the CS or from ppl to do it* or rip ur self off by paying 100k which the GM's obv new we wudnt.

my hoenst opinion is either use the cash shop on this game on sometimes, or when ur lvl 60+ and u cant pay at all, i personaly wouldent bother trying to play

Cash shop items add comfort and class.

    I like my body-tight sexy robe ^_^

And I like galloping at full speed on the back of a muscular black panther. I'm tiger-happy. ^_^

AND ALL THOSE CAN BE BOUGHT VIA THE AUCTIONEER'S GOLD MARKET. :)

That's the first game I see that let cash and non-cash players gain the same stuff through different ways. And that's good.

( edited to correct an awful mispelling )

not really much in my opinion, yeah the charms and mounts and everything are nice, but not really necessary.

If you're one of those people that just absolutely have to have the best of everything then you'll likely be pumping alot of money into the cashshop, but if you're happy just playing the game for what it is(a nice little diversion from reality) then no, you don't need to spend one red cent...... I haven't, and I'm doing just fine.

My point got half overlooked, allow me to stress it again.

All cash shop items can be purchased for ingame coins.
No zen ( nor real life dollars ) are mandatory.

while everyone posts cover the pro's n con of cash shop dependency, something reminded me , i read in a previous post under another title that this game used to ptp pay to play, paying monthly costss i guess, since they brought cash shop in they made it mostly free , so to spk, and upto the player if they use it, i myself live in aust, so dont have a real big interest to use it to much atm maybe later but only to maybe buy a mounts for purposes of getting around so much quicker to and from quest areas but with the cash exchange wont be a big user i like to grind , myself cash grinds n such = )

you can get anything from the auctionhouse... IF there is someone selling it. And you have to spend a long time to get the kind of in-game money to pay for those things.

It's important to think of it this way:

WORK 1 HOUR IN-GAME: GET $1 WORTH ZEN

WORK 1 HOUR IN THE REAL WORLD: GET $6+ DOLLARS FOR ZEN OR ANYTHING ELSE

Farm hays around 37~39 and you can get 3 gold from 1 hour of farming if you sell it to people overnight
That's average, it may get way better or worse depending on your personal luck.

problem is that if no1 buys from the cash shop then there will not be stuff in the auction house..... and for there person who said this game used to be ptp... nope it never has, possibly the chinese version (original) was but besides that no it has NEVER been ptp

And do You pay for the game? What's your personal opinion on that topic? You seem to be the highest levelled here.
And, is 3 gold per hour much , or no?

i dont find it to be that zen dependnt, at least from my point of view

i dont buy fashion cuz i prefer the armors and i dont mind having a slow flying mount, i just tab out and do other stuff while i fly.

Being a veno, i also found i have a lot less dependancy of pots than other classes.

I havent needed anything from cash shop, but if i ever did, i would probably go for auction house.

so i dont rly see it as zen-dependant

It's my understanding that the Venomancer is generally regarded as the least Zen-dependant class. Venos have skills that enable them to regenerate mana and health, and to exchange health for mana or vice versa. They also have pets to tank for them, so they rarely take damage. Ergo, they have little need for charms or potions. If played carefully, they also seldom die, so they have little need for guardian angels. (All this applies to pve only, of course.) They get a skill for continuous increased movement speed, so they have less need of mounts than other classes.

I have been playing Perfect World since closed beta, and I have never spent any real-world money. I'm having tons of fun.

I have friends who buy stuff, but I also have friends who buy all the cash shop items they want via coins. It's just a matter of knowing where to grind, how to make money efficiently, how to correctly sell your items on the market, and how to maximize your coins.

u can lvl up as much as u want without zen, but will take 10x more time to do it at higher lvls.
and in-game gold will never be enough, u have to farm like hell HH or be very lucky in FB to earn some money...
and also, in pvp, if u're hieroless and the enemy has one, u could just stop fighting, u'll 100% loose
