Twin Towers help?

I talked to the veiled tower demon, and there's an option to release him for the power, or say that you don't have any reason to follow him. Does it matter which you choose?

    seems that is you help him escape (as i did) you get something like 16k spirit. If you choose not to help him you get 30 (?) rep. or so I was told about the rep part but not sure actual number
