The answer to this is so simple that really, the game devs and programmers must be really, really lazy.
Amend the quest log - simple. A note at the end about this and what NOT to do at the expense of being banned would solve it.
Of course they should fix the glitch. Give the boss a bow or something. It's a Boss after all.
But minimally they could write in a few lines of text and deploy it on all servers during an update.
They could even keep in RP if they want to... "Don't do blah blah blah, make sure blah, blah, blah, the Gods (or whatever) are watching and will vanish you from the world for disobeying."
Yeah my writing sucks, but "I" don't get paid to do the creative thinking. The game devs and programmers do so therefore should fix it. This way requires just some text and very little coding - if any.

Having a high post count doesn't make you anything in the game.
Unless you're attempting to kiss up to a GM and you KNOW what that makes you.0 -
I realize I'm beating a dead horse here by even posting on one of these "bug/glitch" topics but here goes.
The TOS are written in pseudo-legal, all inclusive, extra vague mumbo-jumbo language for a specific purpose. Simply put, they can ban anyone for doing almost anything at nearly any time. I won't pick the TOS apart, since that's also been done to death. But I will mention this one line to reinforce my point.
"* (f) "Stalk," threaten or otherwise harass or cause discomfort to another;"
It's nice that the mod was kind enough to answer the OP's question by quoting that section of the TOS to them. He/she did answer the question. Heck, at the end, they even said the same thing as I am now. But to cause discomfort to another player? I did that last night. Was almost done with a long quest, and someone pm'd me and sent an invite to do the quest together. I refused and told them I only had like 3 more and was leaving. I was polite, and it was a reasonable thing to do in that situation, as I wanted to hurry before maintenance. However I could be banned for breaking the TOS there. I probably caused them discomfort by not helping them.
I guess I've wandered away from the original intent of this post. The world(and gaming world) is not black and white as PWI seems to think it is. Both range from white to black and are filled with every possible shade of grey in the middle. What is obvious to one, may not be to another. My question is this, and I believe someone made a similar point earlier. Several games I've played in the past have bosses/mobs that are almost impossibly difficult. A tank can't just walk up and kill them while a cleric heals. However the way they were meant to be fought had to be figured out. You are SUPPOSED to find a bosses weakness to kill it. Or, an area is filled with mobs that all link. The party needs to get to the other side. It would take hours to clear a path through, and would wipe any but the highest lvl party. The answer: a ranged attacker lures a specific mob from a surrounding area. All mobs in the area link to the mob he's got, and the party runs across the now empty field. The person with the train drops hate/drops the mob they grabbed, and all creatures reset back to the field. Party continues to their destination.
However in PWI we're not supposed to find a bosses weakness. We're not supposed to figure out that a melee mob that can't jump won't climb up onto a good size stump. From that stump any ranged attacker can kill at will. In most cases the mobs will heal faster then the damage. Sometimes they don't, and you can do full damage from a safe spot. Seems to me that it could have been intended to be done that way by a clever person, as such an obvious loophole in the rules wasn't closed since the game was "originally" released. Now before everyone flames me for that statement, I do realize and agree that a lvl 40 was never meant to be able to solo a lvl 50+ boss that could kill them 3X over with one hit. And since it would take a long time for them to kill it, they are possibly inconveniencing a whole party that could have taken an hour to form. That party would be quite justified in being upset with the situation.
In another game I played it was a bannable offense to even vaguely reference a known glitch in the game. This game apparently doesn't have that rule, as any person who read this whole thread would know exactly how to bug Gouf at this point. Since that rule isn't in effect here, I don't see any good reason why a list of known bannable bugs couldn't be posted. The worst case scenario is that some people will now have a list of bugs they can exploit to make the game easier for them. Easy enough to watch those areas that were mentioned in the list and start dropping the ban-hammer heavily. The buggers/glitchers get taught a lesson or removed. The (possibly many) people who may have accidentally stumbled on some of the more obvious bannable glitches will now know to avoid them.
Yes, I played for quite a while on the Malaysian server. Yes, I've seen many of the existing glitches/bugs that everyone's up in arms about. Yes, I know that this post is so long that 1 person might read it, and it's fairly pointless as no GM will actually respond to me/it. Yes, I know my post will get picked apart by people who disagree with me, and that I'll probably get flamed, called a n00b...etc. But what I'd really, REALLY want is for a GM to either post a list for our reference, or to state why they would ignore the landslide majority of the players, and not post one. If no list, then fine. A simple reason why not would really help keep this sort of thread from reoccurring in the future though. By posting a list, or a reason why they won't will help the mods by cutting back on the endless threads that keep popping up on this topic. Just a thought...flame away0 -
1) To being banned for abusing bug, you have to 1st know that is bug and not just some feature of game.
2) Eula, ToC or what ever apply only to some content in most countries.
3) If i ever get banned for "abusing bug" i didnt know about (1) it would most likely end up in court as for one, i can afford that and two in my country only some parts of eula apply, rest is against law whitch in any case cannot be overided by ToC.
PWI is international game and as such specific laws apply in each country this service is delivered as real money are involved in this case as well.0
