Dragon Quest.. Rant.

Dragon Quest. What gives? I've been running around PW grinding as I try and forking out my hard earned coinage to NPCs. Why?
I got a bad vibe when Duke Black told me "The dragon quest is just a waste of time for people who don't want to fight.." And so far, it has been exactly that.
Will a veteran player please enlighten me? Will the dragon quest ever have any reasonable pay out in the near future? (I'm lv 33 and my last move in the DQ was paying 13k to LO the Tailor in Archasaur. FYI)
THANKS!

It all depends on what you doing the DQs for? If you after the exp, then yes DQs are good and give you a decent exp reward.
I was doing DQs in the hopes of getting a mount. I stopped after my first one when I realized that to get it I need 50 dragon orders. Figured if I sold the DQ drops (even to the NPCs) I would probably make enough money to buy other mounts from other players faster than doing 50DQs.
So for me.....its no more DQs b:pleased

Thanks for all the replies. Just got a question about the response above me. You said to get a land mount (I'd really like one too.. ) you needed 50 DQs. Does that mean completing 50 Dragon Quests, or collecting 50 of thoes Quest Items. (I've gotten one Bronze Dragon Order thing.)
If it's 50 Quest items (500 times of being an NPC's servant or means of income) Then forget it lols.

Yeah its 50 dragon orders (can't remember atm whether its bronze or silver, maybe a combination of both even).
That means you need to complete at least 50 dragon quests and then you can get a shiny white or purple horse, with the same stats as a horse you can buy from the pet manager for 2.4mil or some of the lower level land mounts from the cash shop, which can be bought for even less although they are faster.
In this department perfect world seems perfectly crazy. b:chuckle

I think you need 50 Copper and 50 Silver Orders to get a horse.
Note that you'll want to phase out the lower level DQs when you get too high for the DQ items to drop. Buying them from other players is too expensive and the expierence really isn't worth the time or coins at that point. I'd stick to doing the two highest level DQs.0 -

true that ! i found myself doing lv21 dq's leisurely while going through other quests & lv'd out of the decent drop rate, so ended up buying the rest of the dq mats...just cause i didn't want to trash a 1/2 way done quest.mmorpg is R'lyehian for: Innumerable quantities of grown babies

Tip: Sell DQ mats for money.
At lv50+, i could make 100k an hour just selling those stuff to npcs while doing my normal quests.
At each level, the quests will give you around 40-70% on quests alone (and killing the quest objectives obviously), 10-20% on crazy stone, and the rest you get doing a few FBs or grinding a little.
Money will keep going up though, lv61 DQ items are 2.500 coins each.(Retired from Perfect World)

*ponders*
Sounds reasonable I guess. So collecting Dragon Orders and buying a horse is the main far-sighted objective of Dragon Quests? There's no dragons to be found or any secret mystical dragon armor or skills? IMHO the dragon quest is slightly false advertised. A quest of dragons ending with a purple horse.. hmm.0 -

Oh no, DQs also give other things.....there are armors, molds, quests etc. But my aim was the horses. As I said, its just my opinion and I'm sure there are many who will have valid points as to why you should do DQs. Its upto the individual, you chose whether you want to do them or not. When the going gets tough; Get a tank!

DQs are a good way to breakup the grind a bit and earn some xp, and if done properly you will come out even cash wise. First off, every DQ has a point where you can either pay coins or kill 40 of some monster, NEVER EVER pay the coins, it should take you less than 10 minutes to kill the monsters. Copper orders retail for 25-35k and are given by dq21/31. DQ 21 has you deliver 4 sets of 5 DQ21 items (avg sell price 1.2k) or cost a total of 24k coins if you do all the running/flying no teleporting. DQ31 is 4 sets of 10 DQ31 items (avg sell price ~2.5k) for a total of 100k, for the same solitary copper order. So don't bother with DQ31s, do the first one then don't take the quest again sell your DQ31 items. Running/Flying may seem like a chore but realize that it doesn't have to be. Only complete part of a DQ if you're going there anyway. Or if you have something to do for 15 mins or so, start flying in the direction of your DQ and go do whatever you have to do. DQ41 yields a silver dragon order and I would guess that the cost of the items will wash if you sell the order. Currently @ lvl 48 I always have a DQ21 and a DQ41 active at all times.0
