How about adding a simple inventory counter. A little something that shows how much inventory space you have left like 38/40 somewhere on the UI and turns red when your inventory is about to go full.0

That's actually a great idea. I like that!A civilized society is one which tolerates eccentricity to the point of doubtful sanity. -Robert Frost0 -

You got me! I called myself an a-hole! It's because I am one, but I'm okay with it. Please allow me to clarify, though: I don't steal things from under a person's feet, but I do take stuff if it's unattended. Also, please don't insult my intelligence in the future.
Moving on: I agree that a HUD-inventory counter would be nice! I've played several console RPG's with that simple display, and it saves a lot of time and effort.0 -
I won't take something from somebody's feet. I think that's rude. But if nobody's standing next to it, then it's mine.0

You guys ever had some jackass steal your loot right out from in front of your face? Found a freaking weapon augment, but my inventory was full, so as I'm clearing out, some cheap-**** swims right past me and steals it. How, I don't know; whatever happened to Unable to Pick Up?
Had it happen again for a weapon drop >___> Big-**** important-looking hammer that probably woulda flooded me with Yiyuan stones, and some stupid prick swims right along and steals it. Wonderful, no? ^____<
I am valiantly trying to feel sorry for you, but sorry I can't. You can't drop something on the ground and expect it to stay there indefinitely when there are other people in the area. It is clear from almost the beginning how the drops work. What do you expect? You don't want people to pick up something you drop or left? Then don't drop it or leave it on the ground. I'm sorry but I pick up drops too that have been left behind ...and frankly why shouldn't I? You have a certain amount of time to pick it up and if it is still on the ground than its free game...Sorry this is not a new concept to the game.
You don't want this problem then do as others suggested; expand inventory, and clear out your inventory before you grind or quest. If YOU are to lazy to go back to town to empty out your inventory, which I do everytime my inventory gets full no matter how close I am to finishing a quest, when its full don't blame me for picking up something you couldn't. Its your responsiblity to clear out your inventory so don't blame me or anyone else for picking up a dropped or left behind item.
As to the KSing...ksing sucks and the only people who ks on a PvE server are those who are to chicken to do so on a PvP server. You want to KS try it on the PvP server.
EDIT: Sorry forgot one thing...as to something that is at someones feet...if..and that is a huge IF I know for 100% surety that one of the 15 possible people standing around the banker is the owner of the item that is dropped no I will not pick it up. That applies to out while grinding or questing, but there isn't even a guarantee that the person standing over the item is the owner of the item in question. There are how many ppl running around this game? Am I supposed to be psychic now? OH and another idea...try dropping your items at a different height if you can fly if you really can't live without dropping something and if you can fly. Its harder for ppl to "steal" (using that term loosely as there is no name on it and it is free game after a certain amount of time) the item if they can't see it, reach it or know its there.. I do have respect, but I also have common sense.0 -
It should be more like WoW... whoever starts attacking the monster first, it's their kill, their loot. No one else's.0

Yeah, the idea of whoever does the most damage is a bit unfair to weaker characters.0

Uh, in WoW, basic loot become fair game after a while. But you are right about armor. and weapons.
But it's been so long since I played, I might be wrong lol.0 -
well guys, be greatful that there is a counter. Take full advantage of it. There are always (people I really hate) that just come out of nowhere and take stuff from you.
Some examples:
1. You clear the monster that is standing on top of the place you want to mine. Some random guy comes up and mines it while you kill the monster. (not too much of a problem in PvP server unless the guy is higher level than you) Then if he / she is mining, you can shoot an aim low arrow up their butts and stun them.
2. You are fighting a monster and their loot drops. Some guy attempts to pick it up (obviously not knowing that there is a timer on items). Another case that you would stick an aim low arrow up their butt.
So, to get around people taking your LOOT (not mines) is to do what I do. Just drop an item, pick up the item you want, unless you are not sure what you want to pick up and which you want to leave....then I guess you can just pick up and drop until you decide lol.0 -
In my personal opinion, it's more flabbergasting and rude to go on the forums and complain about the gross indecency of other people when it takes you almost no effort to prevent such a thing.
Then there are the times where, for some reason, the loot drops like ten feet away. During the time my character spends walking to it, the time limit apparently runs out just as a loot stealer runs in and snatches it right out of my hand. Not sure how I could effortlessly prevent that one. When you kill something in melee range, shouldn't the drops be in melee range, too?
So what are you gonna tell me now? That I should get a better computer? *shrug* Not all of us are lucky enough to be swimming in cash at any given moment.0 -
I found it strange how deshin said people who recover neglected items are greedy. When sometimes the person to murdered the creature has no inventory and they have to decide what to drop to replace it.
Well I looked at that and thought maybe the person who has no inventory space is the greedy one. They have so much stuff they are sufficating themselves. If you still want to be greedy put items up for auction. That is a large amount of space and you can make money doing it. It only costs about 200k a safe stone and 300k an inventory stone. So its easy to get enough money to get max space in a week. Also think about this concept: GIVING ITEMS AWAY so you have space. I am sure you have friends or members of your faction that would love half you items.
The person that saved the neglected item from obliteration is doing a service by adding value to the Perfect World economy (More items = Better Economy). If you get an item as a drop you have 30 seconds to decide if you want it or not. Thats a fair amount of time. I am a wizard that uses spells that go as far as 30 meters away. I have plenty of time to run to my loot because I know to start running while my last attack is casting. I have never had a problem with walking 30 meters to a drop in over 30 seconds and someone taking the item. I had plenty of time.
On a different note there is a perfect solution to prevent kill stealing. Make a wizard. I find it really funny when squads of 6 tell me they are going to steal my boss kill because I am the only one there. Bad idea to try to kill steal a fire wizard when the target is a metal creature. I come out embarasing them by doing 3x the damage they can do combined.0 -
I'm helping you ! I fight against lag ! 0_0[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

If the timer has run out, it's fair game. If you take too long to clear out your inventory, that's too bad for you.
A kinda funky thing used to do on PYMY though, with the mats.. I'd roll along as some lowbie, steal the mats right our from under a highbie.. they get angry, I act like a prick to them. They PK me.. then my high level buddy drops down from above and PKs them. We sell whatever they drop back to them as a fairly low price, then split the profits.
Made a fair amount, although not many people actually went so far as to PK me, no matter how much of an **** I was.
Buy yeah, back to the drop timer, it's pretty long. If you take longer than that, it's pretty safe to assume you don't want whatever dropped.Everyone here is ridiculously oversensitive.0
