Bosses

Getting tired of all the bosses requiring a squad and not even being allowed to attempt to fight them alone in dungeons. You've probably heard this before, but imho this is one of the major flaws of the game. We shouldn't be forced to group with others.. we should be encouraged.. Like through teaching skills and other things. All the dungeon bosses requiring a squad is really dumb.
Why do I want to fight them alone?? Because I was dumb enough to pick a cleric and fighting in squads is a bore, as when I signed up I didn't realize this game was so profession specific.. i.e. everyone in squads expects the cleric to just stand back and heal (BORING).
(My intention when finding out later what clerics were was to be a full attack cleric, but that doesn't seem to change that the only role in the game for clerics in squads seems to block them into the box of tank healers........ fun..........................)
This game has too many flaws now that I've been playing a while, and can't say if I know I will play it much longer. I thought it would be a lot better than this.
Actually, I would like to play a cleric still (the way I want to play it, not the stereotype), but this game is just flawed on too many levels..... It has so many basic things going for it too. Being forced to squad when squads box you in so much is pathetic.... This game allows for zero originality or customization (aside from looks) it seems.

The game isn't "flawed," you just don't like it's style of gameplay. If you don't like it, then quit playing...I don't see why that's so hard to do. You either like the game, or you don't...no reason to torture yourself and continue to play the game if you don't like it.0

Well if that is how you feel about clerics then I don't see why you even bothered to get it to 56. You should've realized this around your first fb's already, or around those lvls. Besides, when you created your character it said in the description (if I can recall correctly) about the class that they ARE healers (even though there are attack clerics).
And honestly, they are BOSSES and ELITES, you are supposed to get a team for it. It's no fun if you can run around killing bosses by yourself, then there would be no teamwork whatsoever in the game. ...
- Niyatu/Laura.Sympathy is just a sign of your own weaknes.0 -
Unfortunately, you leveled to 56 before realizing you wanted to be a DPS class.....
Stop now, and re-roll an archer or wizard. Use your 56 for supporting and power-cashing your new toon through the levels.
Clerics going solo do very well DPS wise. Dungeons, they are what they are, most MMO's have group based dungeons or instances. In these, clerics heal. When a DPS cleric exists, there is still a healing cleric about.
There are plenty of outdoor bosses for your entertainment. These, you can solo. Well, you can attempt to. You'll need healing though....

sorry but it sounds like whining. you chose to make a healer a damage dealer. thats fine. just tell people right out front that you are a DPer heck join my guild if you would like we're an easy going bunch. personally if you are good at dealing damage i'll even tank for youone day the world will shout to me save us....
and i will whisper no.0 -
I'm not whining, or don't mean to be. I just don't like the way the game is designed. Especially professions and bosses. It's too limited and narrow minded. I also don't like the cash shop anymore as I've realized it revolves around blatant greed. I guess that's why I quit and haven't played since I posted that.
I got my character to that level because I wanted to give the game a real chance and I didn't realize a lot of things about it til then. I thought I could still somehow make the game and profession work for me in spite of these limitations, but there are just too many faults to keep me happy now. So I guess I'm only explaining imo what is wrong with the game design and why I left, and what might be improved in the future.0 -
I have a 64 healer and all my, buffs, rezzes, and heals that are worth anything are maxed. I have nothing left to put points in other than offensive spells. SO if you skilled properly , you should be approaching the point that clerics become the bane of bosses and PvP'ers alike.
Plume quill and cyclone are your main offense till you get thunder wield and tempest. Also the seals are worth reading, I personal put one point in the first three to get chromatic..............this is a ultimate PvP skill were you place your opponent to sleep for up to 33 seconds....then you hit them with tempest and finish them off with PQ and cyclone. I have dueled and beaten even Barbs with this combo.
SO to say a cleric can not do DPS, only proves you have not met the right cleric yet.
Happy hunting, and don't give up on the class just yet.0 -
i have to agree with Ash in some parts.
in the way the game wants cleris to be = mainly supporter / healer - this game is total missdesigned for them. Just one example therefore :
what gets a cleri for healing his party members ? --> nothing
what gets a cleri for buffing his party members ? --> nothing
compared to the amount of xps, spirit points, ... those one, in his party, get who kill the mobs.
getting around 150xp for a complete (with mobs kills) fb19 run as supporter cleri - sry but thats ridicolous.
all others who KILL ACTIVE go out there with xk of xps and spirit points.
so dont say this game is nice and well designed - its simply a mess as it is.
I fully understand when cleris get bored and annoyed of being forced to play always the support role. They get nothing for - most times even no one says "thanks".justice might be blind - but i also see in darkness0 -
Are you poeple blind look at the cleric section there's a wonderful attack cleric guide clerics are incredible when built correct they can be almost unbeatable. I mean ya there are ppl who r predjuice agaist attack clerics but most ppl won't be to bad as long as you tell them you fight not heal..anyway cleric are wondeful in this game they can fight most games clerics cant fight for anything. Also how come archers complain more then any other class just really weird...0

Sounds like WoW is better suited for you. Nowhere near as much characterization in terms of looks, but gameplay is so diverse and every class can be played numerous ways with different skills depending on which talent tree you choose. There's a reason (or are several reasons) why WoW is generally regarded as the best MMO in the world b:chuckle
Oh and as for the "attack clerics" in this game, in terms of build they are exactly the same as pure mag support clerics. Ok so "attack clerics" may level up skills in a slightly different order but in the end it's all the same, with the only difference being how the class is played.
I agree that this game is limited and has many flaws, but it does have some redeeming features. Then again with most things in life, you get what you pay for.0
