I get this error message when I press start:

I have updated my Direct X (as it's the only readable word in the error) and my video drivers,, but still.. no luck.

I'm having a Geforce 8600 GTS

Try and read stickys first before posting this is from the "Troubleshooting guide":

You will need to install the East Asian Language pack that is on your original Windows disc.

To install it on your computer in Windows XP (other versions might be slightly different):

    1. Insert your Windows XP CD
    2. Go to Control Panel
    3. Go to Regional and Language Options
    4. Click on the "Languages" Tab
    5. Click the "Install files for East Asian Languages" checkbox.
    6. Click on the OK button for the dialog box that appears.
    7. Click on the OK button of the window to close it, and begin the installation.

You can also try running the game in Windowed Mode from the in-game Settings to see if that helps you

    Thank you for your reply.

The error message I posted is the error message I get even after going through the above process. reducing all specs to 0 and running in windowed mode does not help either.

p.s. Having the error message in chinese would not make it more readable for me I'm afraid :)

Have you tried running a verify?

Edit: Nearly forgot installing the East Asian Language pack should at the very least translate it into english XD Seriously it does help with alot of problems regarding gameplay so it was worth a shot at least.

The East Asian language support can actually fix many of these issues. It's not a readability matter, so much as making sure Windows can handle everything tossed through. There's still a number of network commands that go through with Chinese file names or Chinese text on the client.

Yes, I tried the verification a couple of times in between reboots and all.
    Nevertheless nothing seemed to help

I have now downloaded a new copy of the client, uninstalled the old one, and i'm gonna install the game again.

Maybe it works when I install the game AFTER installing the language pack.

After this I'm out of ideas myself aswell.

p.s. also verifying the install files before installing.. you never know...

When I get that error, I run verify and let it run all the way until its done. After that I can play again.
    Main characters
Celestial Sage Venomancer Zoe - 100
    Sage Barbarian Malego - 91

I finished the new installation now, re-installed the language-pack, and have verifying the files.

Rebooted the pc after every step.

    Absolutely nothing has changed.
    - Same error message, no matter howmany times I verify the files (still unreadable, no clue what it says)
    - No game launch

In the eventvwr I cannot find anything wrong

These games I can run just fine:
    - Lineage2
    - Age of Conan
    - Warhammer Online

Seems like my pc is just fine. Can someone from Perfect World Entertainment give me a clue?

I think you can also get a similar message to that when your graphic drivers aren't installed properly, or are running off of the native Windows graphic drivers.
Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

How much dedicated memory does it list for your video card?

    Try renaming C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\config\patcher\sysinfo.ini to sysinfo_old.ini and C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\patcher\video\defaultsettings.ini to defaultsettings_old.ini.
