you need str to meet the requirements of your gear.
the other attributes are optional (depends on your build)0 -
Str - You need it (0.5 points every level) to use your magic armor and weapons. Without it...well...good luck with lvl 10 gear.
Vit - Some people get it, some people don't. Certainly it helps you survive if you're hit, but imo not nearly enough that its worth it, unless you get a ton, and therefore make your mag stink. Also, vit stops playing a big role once you get to higher levels, as by then hp stones in armor and your base hp are a lot higher than what one point of vit can give you. Mag on the other hand, gets more and more important with lvl, as each point of mag raises your base matk by ~1%, always. If you really need vit to survive at low levels, get a bit, but cap it early, or get a restat later.
Dex - Don't get it unless you want to wear light armor, in which case get 1 point a lvl. You'll also need 1 point of str per level (instead of 0.5 for robes, and 0 points of dex). Light armor does contribute -massively- to your surviving mobs, usually making things do 20-30% of what they'd do if you were wearing robes. However, your matk does suffer, esp in the later levels. (you get 6 points of mag per 9 points of pure mag/str robe wearers). Its your choice.0 -

If you intend to be pure magic, then I hope that the additional 2 points on vit are coming from your items. Nothing really wrong with adding vit, just that you said you want to be pure magic =P. But as far as stats go, most pure mags add 1 str every 2 levels, so you might be lacking in one point of strength.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

I kinda made a mistake when I added those 2 points to Vit. but will i still be able to go pure magic ??JD VS PWI

guys plz explain why a mage needs str - because a magical class does magical dmg i would say the class needs magic vit and dex but i installed the game recently i just compare stats to other rpgs where str is normally a stat for fightersWizard lvl 190

You rarely need str.
But the need is there, due to Armor Requirements.
No more...0 -
well, i'd go for vit, coz it does help a lot and the 1% extra dmg for each point you put into it doesnt really help that much in my point of view since in comparison, the skills dmg at high level is equivalent to around 300% which is a lot in comparison to each points you spent to get that lil dmg bonus.
so my suggestiong would be to get enough mag and str for armor and weapons and the rest pump into vit.
another thing is, dunno if ppl realise, the weapons req for this game is sorta high so by matching it, you are already putting a lot of points into vit ^^0 -
thx 4 the info with the str but now i got another question ( yes noobs are annoying :P )
how about a dex mag mage ? I mean instead of pumping hp getting lil less hp points and put points into dex too to increase evasion and crit ( is chance for magical crit also increased by putting points into dex? or is it only crit from phys dmg weapons?)Wizard lvl 190 -

In green : Correct me if I'm wrong, but this 300% is based on your magic damage, which is increased when you add stat points into magic, so the damage you deal will be amplified if you added into magic instead of vit.
In red : I don't get your point. First off, you don't need dex for wizards unless you are going for Light Armor build. Secondly, what does adding str and dex for equipment have anything to do with putting points into vit. So... yeah. b:shutup[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I'm asking this dex question because if dex also increases the chance for magical crit hit then it would be useless to pump hp.
Then i would go for magic for dmg + dex for crit + take earth magic and def for phys defense
for sure some points in vit will be needed anyway i guess but i wouldnt really pump it then because evasion should be better than suffering dmg with a higher amount of total hpWizard lvl 190 -
Well its an interesting idea to think about anyway, might not be practical but lets give it some thought.
Robe wearing Wiz who puts 3 mag, 0.5 str, and 1.5 dex each level. At level 70 thats 215 Mag 5 Vit 40 Str, 110 dex. Every 20 dex is 1% crit I believe or a 5.5% crit chance.
Average Total Damage = Damage + 2*Damage*CritChance = Damage(1+2CritChance) = Damage(1.11)
So a Pure Wiz must hit for more than 10% base damage higher than this variant to out DPS it which I think is more than likely. There's also the extra evasion but I don't know much about evasion.0 -
Evasion is worthless.
If you're not an archer, it won't matter at all, basically, and its useless to try and boost dex for that benefit.
Like Elahim said, the dex boost to crit is only 1% per 20 points. Since crits do ~2x damage, thats a 2% increase in damage (0.01*2.00) for 20 points, or 0.1% damage per point.
Mag will -always- increase damage by 1% (well less than that, given base damage bonuses from skills). So, each point in mag will increase damage by about 10x as much as a point in dex.
Furthermore, every 20 points in mag will increase mp regen by 1 point per second, as well as increase max mp.
Conclusion: only get dex if you're using it for light armor.
EDIT: as for vit builds...my reasoning is this: you are a mage. You aren't meant to take damage well, or at all rather. Your main asset is your tremendous damage output. So...full int is the only reasonable conclusion imo. A "few" points in vit -might- make you survive 1 more hit. A serious investment in vit will severely impact your damage output (if you go 6 points per 10, as opposed to 9, you'll have only 70-80% the damage), esp in the higher levels.0 -
hm so it sounds like this dex doesnt pay off i thought about killing multiple mobs since i guess mage will get aoe spells later on.
As i have notice the gear for mages always has high attributes in elemental resistances like fire water wood ...resistance but rly low values in phys resistance. So my question is - how do mages handle physical dmg ? I mean this seems to be a crucial point since the archers and also other classes mainly dealing physical dmg will be able to knock out a mage instantly. Points in earth shield only?
Is base vit rly enough to survive hits from higher lvl mobs? Or is it something like str which has to be stated gradually but not pumped?
What's difference between the 4 weapon types and armor types a wizard can use does the type reflect a certain build? Which one do i have to choose if i want to make build which is based on magic attacks only?Wizard lvl 190 -
The 3 armor types do matter to you, the 4 weapon types do not. The weapons have different level requirements and different damage spreads. Use whichever one gives you the best damage ((low dmg + high dmg)/2). The three armor types are heavy (High Phys Def., Low Mag Def. Requires 3 Str:0.5Dex per level), light (Med Phys Def, Med Mag Def, Requires 1 Str: 1 Dex per level), and robes (Low phys def, High Mag Def, Requires 0.5 Str per level). If you are going to be a pure magic Wiz then you are restricted to only robe armor. In robe armor if you stack a little HP you will find physical monsters your level will kill you in 4-5 hits.
If your concern is pure magic damage then you are going to be required to go Robes (because it has the lowest stat requirements for the other stats so you can put 4.5 mag in every level). In PvE you will do alright as you have several knockback, slow, runaway spells. In PvP things can be rough on a robe wearer which is why many who are concerned with PvP will switch to a light armor build. Do Note that over the course of several levels you can switch from pure to light armor build however the same cannot be said in reverse. From the sounds of it its kinda like robbing peter to pay paul and people argue over its merits.0 -
thx 4 the usefull information i will stick to the robes and go with pestiles since they got highest dmg I guess cast time is skill determined so it's best to get the pestile there shouldnt be a difference in casting speed but it seems like mentioned by you the lvl requirements are different but in the end pestile is always the highest of the 4 available weapons. I guess it's better to wear 1 pestile and wield the next better pestile with the crafting skill than to switch from pestile to ward or something else between.Wizard lvl 190

Epic necro bro. While I do appreciate the fact that you decided to search the forums for you answer it would be nice if you checked that date of the last post in a thread before posting in the future.
To answer your question, all classes start with 5 points in each stat so yes, wizards have 5 points in every stat when you start.Meh, saw a couple other people doing this so...
