Maximum Magic Attack

I've come across a few weapons now that have a +maximum magic attack. I'm having a hard time figuring out what that means. How does it differ from regualr +magic attack?

So just wondering, what each stat increases and if I should look for one more than the other.

    I think that +maximum magic attack just adds to the top end of your damage range
    meaning like
    if you normally do 300-500 magic attack, and you equip and item with +23 max magic damage, you would get
    300-523
    instead of the normal magic damage buff which would add to your minimum base damage as well as your max.

    Well I decided to test it out since I have the same weapon, one w/ each of these attributes.
    The weapon's are both 2*Raja Spirit's Pestle lvl 6 Magic Attack 296-443

    Base Magic Attack w/o weapon: 301-301
    Magic Attack w/ weapon +27 Max Mag Atk: 1056-1499
    Magic Attack w/ weapon +10 Mag Atk: 1081-1456

    These numbers are when I am unbuffed. It seems the equation to adding magic attack is a bit more complicated than it would seem.
