You only see the actual lvl of someone on friends and/or guildlist though you can look at their armor and say approximitely what lvl they are.

It just takes forever to look at the gear, and only works if you're close enough.

I never understood why so many games hide the player levels. It's completely pointless --- maybe on PK servers/channels so people don't know what they are dealing with right away, but on non-PK servers/channels it's completely pointless and just a major annoyance.

and why do u want to see a players lvl so bad?

on a none pvp server u dont need to know the lvls of the chars that run around u....

and on a pvp server its just right u dont know the lvl of ur enemy.....

What reason is there to NOT display the level on a non-PK server/channel?

Sometimes the level is useful, for example when deciding how to answer a question. Or just because you want to know whether someone might be in trouble. Or just because I'm curious.

Why does the game show me the gear?

They make a good point tho... Knowing someone's lvl can be very useful... I'm a cleric so I need that kinda info to truely help someone... If they're a lower lvl I can use a weaker spell and save my mp but if their higher lvl, I don't wanna use a weaker spell and they die... >.< its quite annoying...
