i say none are really needed if you have good friends or a guild. Crafting is usually expensive, leveling to lv4 bs/tailor/or jeweller is a pain, as well as leveling to lv6 crafting--both require quests. Usually it's better to buy your own eq from auction hall.

I am fairly new to this myself - still I would say it is a great addition to the game.

I have already tried several of them - the character I have gone the farthest with is at level 8 - and with that character I am learning Blacksmith - Apothecary and Tailoring - will do the Crafting too when the others are more on the way. I have all 3 at level 2 - Apothecary soon to level up to 3.

Well it can be expensive if you go buy all the ingrediences you need for the crafting - but I have learned that all of the materials can be found in the world either by just being there in the nature - or some you get from killing the mobs. So it is maybe more timeconsuming - but I combine it with other quests. Like if I am on a quest to kill some mobs and I see a plant or iron-mine on my way - I stop and take it - and then go on with my quest.

In the end when you go create the thing - it is kind of satisfying seeing at the description of the thing : Manufactured by (your nick). And finally you can go sell the final product - I have earned a lot of money
    already just doing that.

But it is what you find fun - we all have different taste in what we like to do :)
