I know someone else has already done an upload but it is hiding in the middle of another thread so here as normal.

After trying all day I managed at last to upload the tasks.data to Filefactory.

    Thank you, you are a lifesaver. I don't know why but I can never get past the task.data

    Thanks a lot... This is the only way I can ever get into the game after an update.

    PWI needs to do something to fix the update problem ASAP. The problem has been there since day 1 of open beta and its quite annoying! I'm very disappointed that it still hasn't been fixed after all these months. b:angry

    I've played 2 other versions of Perfect World and a lot other MMOs and have never had this problem, so I know its on their end.

    I don't know if it's just me... but the two mediafire links are dead, and the filefactory link is no go, all slots full.

    I cant get on at all.

    First I bring up the launcher and it says it had a script error.

    Then I downloaded the data from the links above but it can only look for .cup files

    help?

    Well I have both the tasks.data and elements-1.data.

    Then i try to look for them manually and it cant find them.

    What do I do?

    You'd want to go to the C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\data folder, rename the existing file to elements_old.data or tasks_old.data (depending on which file you're trying to replace, and copy the downloaded file into that directory.

    Ok so I went into the data final at the end, so now I copy the files I downloaded earlier into the data folder?

    Then do I run Perfect World normally after that?

    i tried to download them but none of them work. it said that it cant open that kind of fileb:sadb:cry

    I download the both types of the files above and both of them said that "windows cannot find file"

    If any of you have it that your patcher is asking for update even though you are at correct version 28 please try a verify.

    Edit: I just checked on Medifire and Filefactory... Approximately 250 downloads each for tasks.data and element.data!!! O.O I never had this many downloads from my uploads before... O.O

    im new to this game and its not working....................i downloaded the elements and tasks.data
    and replaced them etc but when i start up the agme it starts to update STILL and its stuck at ( iconlist_guild.dds ) HELP?

    Unfortuanetly my uploads are not the full patch but only the part which gives most people problems. If you still experience problems please close the patch and launcher then restart everything.

    And those are just the diehards like me who stayed this long, found your posts on these forums, and did the downloads. Most newcomers who install PW and discover that the patcher doesn't work probably just shrug and go off to find another free game. I think PWE is underestimating the number of players they are losing to this patch server glitch. If fewer people are complaining on the forums, it's because most of them gave up and quit.

    There are helpful aids like Aryannaveno's elements and tasks posts and the official stickied post for manual patch download mirrors. But we still need more work in this area to resolve the problem more transparently. Lots of people don't read the messageboards. Meanwhile, I thank everyone for their efforts so my friends and I can play.

    We do understand the patch issues for some of you. That is why we bug people for the manual patches.

    The auto-patcher works for 99.5% of the people playing the game.

    The auto-patcher doesn't work for remaining players for any number of reasons like (no particular order, and not limited to):

    1) User has out of date router or router firmware. (If your router or modem is older then 3 year, consider upgrading)

    2) User's computer network settings are not setup properly. (tricky, and frustrating sometimes)

    3) User's ISP has changed settings on their infrastructure, and/or are throttling or blocking traffic, or otherwise restricting bandwidth. (some ISPs are total um, insert your fav curse word here)

    4) User's country or school is throttling network traffic. (freedom, hah!)

    5) User's firewall, antivirus or other security software isn't allowing the network traffic for the auto-patcher to go fast enough for the game to verify and receive files during the process.

    6) User's shared network isn't allowing the data for the auto-patcher to go through fast enough. (Like someone else downloading stuff while you are trying to use the same connection.)

    7) Somewhere along the data packet transfer, there is a bottleneck with the data going through too fast and a certain section of the network doesn't let it through fast enough. (Welcome to gaming on the internet. It is NEVER perfect.)

    There are many other reasons, but for us in Tech Support, it is security software and network settings that seem to be the bulk of the issue for users.
    (and people trying to use computers older then 5 years trying to play the game)
    Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

    i just dl the elements.data and tasks.data make the old 2 elemens_old.data and tasks_old.data and put the new 2 in then i start the patcher but is still want to update the tasks.data and give me an error what i can do?i wanna try the game but icant make it running...help pleas
