Question for blademasters

Hello, everyone. I recently started playing PW and thus apologise in advance for newby questions.
Here is what I really want to know:
1. How do I know which monsters use magic attack, and which use physical attack? I am trying to understand when I should wear light armour, and when I should opt for a heavy one.
2. Jewellery that offers a bonus for magic attack- does it work with blademasters when we use spells or only with wizards? Or should I just choose accessories that enhance my physical attack, because even my spells count as "physical" as I am a blademaster not a wizard?

Thank you everyone!

Some things use one or the other, some use both. The general rule of thumb is to only solo things that you are strong against. You will often be faced with situations where both are present, and near eachother, so planning something as critical as stat distibution around something like this usually doesn't work well. Light armor, although higher in magic resist, doesn't protect against both magic and physical damage very well, so rather than being able to stand strong against one of them, both end up remaining a fairly high threat. "Most" BMs end up using heavy armor simply because they are needing to put points into strength for weapons anyway, and heavy armor allows for good protection against atleast 1 type of enemy. Light armor is more for those making a dexterity heavy build, such as claw, but as a result, those people tend to walk a constant razor's edge at later levels. On a point by point basis, If need be, you can supliment your physical resists with magic resist belt or neck, but those things usually don't end up making too significant of a difference unless only fighting things that use spells. Most of the magic damage from monsters below level 50 tends to come in the form of wood, earth, or metal damage, with a few, rare fire damage spells, so you can try to find heavy equipment which has those defences when necessary.

As far as added damage goes. I'm a bit too lazy to log onto my BM, but am fairly certain that all of their attacks are based on melee weapon damage, which means that only melee damage adjustments are considdered. However the skill description should be able to tell you for sure...

Thank you for your reply :)
So do you think I should just stick to heavy armor? Because even that has a few points going towards the magic resistance

I'm using heavy armor with magic defense shards to boost my defense 2 average shards in almost every piece of armor that and use "alter marrow" skill when creature has high magic attack. It does seem to help.

I just use heavy armor.. Most monsters do use melee. Most early in the game anyway.

    This is what for me...

Lvl1-40 - Use heavy armor. As most mobs before that level usually deal physical damage... Only a few use Magical Attack.

Lvl 40 onwards - Change to Light Armor. As most of the mobs are using Magical attack from now onwards...
Cherish what you have now... Do not regret when you lose it... =)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

    Ah. I guess in earlier level you better stick with Heavy Armor, since it's the one suited BM best. if you're not familiar enough with where to put in points in stats, using Light will only mess up your status, since usually people match their status with their equipment --- Light doesn't need that much Str, while in fact BM needs them in earlier level. Once you have good Con and Str to hold on melee, you can think of changing to Light ---- I suggest level 40-45 to change since the boss are magical, usually. I myself, keep using Heavy for my BM... with shards. ^^;;

Forgive me for not knowing how to determine which mobs use magic and which mobs use physical. Based on personal experience, the mobs are not changing that much through the levels and mobs that look similar are usually using the same attack. And, mobs that looks like they have no weapon are using full magical attack, while mobs with weapons--or claws, or such--are using physical attack. There are, however, melee mobs that use magical. You better keep a close distance with them since if you distance yourself, they will use magic on you. They will still do magic on you even in close distance though... but it's minutes later and usually you already finish them before they cast...

As far as I know, all attack from BladeMasters are physical. Even in Skills, the damage and the additional damage you give are counted as physical. You can read it yourself in the skills' description to verify it. ^^

^^ Have fun levelling!!! b:pleased~~~and to others, feel free to edit what I'm saying here, since I'm only using personal experience. ^^b:thanks

Thank you everyone for your answers, I really appreciate you taking the time to post your replies. I am eternally grateful, thank you so much again!
A question though- those shards we add to the armor, we are talking about the soulstones, right? And what if the fusion is unsuccessful?

As far as I know, every fusion of Soul Stone will always be successful, unlike upgrading Equipment into ++ Equipment by Celest stone, which can be unsuccessful and thus lowering the equipment instead. They're different. ^^
